Thread: Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 - Crashes on opening

Hi, I have successfully been using Dreamweaver 8 for a few months, then suddenly this morning on opening the program, it would not start. It was closed succesfully the night before but this morning, the program try's to open but the opening box loads up to "Initalizing CSS styles" then just sits there. I have tried opening a number of times, uninsatlled and re installed it, and finally did a ...

This is from the DW FAQ Page http://forums.adobe.com/thread/429114 Crashes, installation, JavaScript errors, and unexplained problems If Dreamweaver is acting erratically, or if you see a message saying "the following JavaScript error(s) occurred",  it's usually a sign of a corrupt cache file. yep - same. just downloaded the upgrades and tried that ... still crashes. out of time and patience ... so getting closer to the desparate upgrade~ you can do the 30 day free trial of dreamweaver CS4 if you need to do something soon ... and deal with customer service in relaxed time. my tech guy said that the second link .. supportportal ... will get back to you in 4 hours .. just provide as ...

SUCCESS! It was something to do with my person config files (One of those times where you do something without taking into account what you have done!!) BUT IT NOW WORKS!! Thanks to everyone who replied, Andrew

congrats! still no luck here ... but it does go through the update of site cache .. then still crashes. any ideas??

Hi Nancy H, Did you try deleting the personal config folder? Which OS are you on?  (if win - not being condescending, just checking bases here) Did you receive an OS update recently? Any chance you picked up a virus or trojan, have you run an anti-virus scan of your HD lately? Have you run Clean Disk & Disk Defrag lately? Nancy O'Shea Alt-Web Design & Publishing Web | ...

just did this ... but did not realize that removing site definitions meant removing all the style sheets .. so all info is there but no style .. and can't figure out how to GET files ...if that would even work .. not sure. -- IF I just upgrade . will that work?? -- also .. i restored old site definitions .. so even more confused. --------- 11.
