I had a 98 model - it was so slow that you had to really be careful trying to lower it at a light. But it was 98 and very few vehicles could match that feature back then. Thanks for reminding me how good we have it now!

I love the end where they post the "soft top, 2 seconds"

I love it! That is the essence of our cars-- the ability to have open top motoring at any time you want. So sweet!

I like the association of driving a Miata. The MB would make me feel self-conscious. I really think most MB drivers are status-oriented people...

The other video is good to watch as well - the one where the SLK and MX5 drivers go to load luggage in the trunk with the top down. The SLK driver ends up scratching his helmet in confusion.

Too funny... I have an identical red PRHT and when I have occasion to put the top up at a light love to watch the expression of the driver behind in the mirror.. Also love how if some impatient jerk honks, the nimble acceleration makes them a mere speck in the mirror. Zero to smiles in about 6 sec.

What they are saying in German is, "The Mercedes is almost as good as the Mazda".

I agree with Sausage King, the car is great to drive, but more as a GT. As for Divot, this is the reason why I do not hold on to German cars for very long given that I do not wish to become a statistic. As for stereotyping, 90% of people in this region buy German cars for show since most owners use them to cruise the boulevards to show others how much they can spend on cars, which is basically any amount you can dare to think of. The only...

I don't know why some people seem to be getting their shorts in such a twist about this video. It says nothing, implies nothing about the performance or reliability of either car. At most it's "oooh, look what you get with the less-expensive car!" I'd doubt that hard top retraction time is going to be much of a buying criterion between the cars for most people, I'd say. If anything, the best/funniest part...

The video would have been even more fun if they would have left off the opening splash screen. Much better to assume that these two are going to drag race from the light. Very funny!
