So I do not usually post here, but I felt the need to ask if I am the only one here who is going through this. My LO had her MMR and chicken pox vaccine 9 days ago. Last night she started running a 102 fever, but I have had a cold, so i did not think much of it. I gave her some motrin and sent her to bed. She still had fever this morning when she got up so I gave her another dose and went to ...
Hi, please read my last post. I had to take my son to the ER because he had a febral seizure. Now that you wrote this, i'm just realizing that he had his MMR vacccine 5 days before the incident. The pediatrician's office did not mention that this might have been the cause, but I will def. bring this up at our next appt. Please be careful with the high fever and check throughout the night, ...
dd overall did great. we gave her tylenol for the first 24 hours, so no fever. Now about 8 days post, she has a very slight rash on her cheeks which we postulate may be related to the vaccine (it's a fairly common benign reaction)...Anyway, it does not seem to be bothering her and she continues to eat well, play well and seem comfortable.
Sorry you're dealing with the high fever.
Forgive my ignorance, but why do you want your lo to get the chicken pox. Is that better for him?
Getting chickenpox usually confers lifelong immunity, provided there is some level of community exposure. There is no question that it provides much longer immunity than the vaccine.
When the vaccine was first introduced, parents were told that only one shot would be necessary. Later, a...
We got the MMR but not the chicken pox vac (yet). No reaction whatsoever and I was expecting one.
I feel for you. With all his previous vax's he ran a fever for a couple days and was in an overall lousy mood. Hang in there, but go back to the dr if your gut instinct is telling you something is not right. I'm lucky that I only have a $20 co-pay for office visits - I never hesitate to ...
I am holding off for the MMRV vaccine. My reason was that I just started him on milk after being diagnosed of having a milk protein allergy at 8 weeks and didn't want to complicate things. It also had to do with some issues I have with the vaccine. Mainly due to some of the reactions I have heard other LO's getting after having it and the fact that they get so many vaccines at such a young...
Update: Fever is now running 105 and really hard to bring down. Have been to the MD office today and been on the phone with MD this evening. We just got back from having lab work to make sure that it was not bacterial. The rash is horrible and she is miserable. She won't eat anything and I am lucky the she will drink a little. I will be getting up with her every 3 hrs tonight to alternate ...
DD had a similar reaction. I spent the last week crying every day I was so worried about her! 6 days after the vaccines she had a 102 fever. The next couple of days it went as high as 104.8! The drs kept telling me it was a reaction and to give tylenol and motrin alternately. I showed up @ the ER after 4 days of this bc I felt like no one was taking it seriously and the pediatrician couldn't...

I would like to comment on the discussion between Romana and AM2008. I'm all for vaccines, but my husband and I have elected to not to give our DD the chickenpox vaccine. For all the reasons Romana explained, and from experience. One of my best friends' son got shingles after the first injection, but before he received the second. It's very painful, and worse than the chickenpox. I've worked as a nursing assistant for...

My DS got the MMR at his 12 month appt. He did great! I did not let the doctor give him the Chx Pox shot b/c I actually want my DS to get the chx pox. His doctor agreed with me on the decision.
Remember that motrin is only given every 6 hours & tylenol every 4. So tylenol 4 hours later motrin, 6 hours later tylenol. Don't accidentally OD your LO. I sure hope your LO is better soon. Hugs. ? ? ? ?
