Those MAC commercials can be funny, and the way PCs are portrayed is - at times - brilliant, but the latest anti-Win 7 MAC commercials are a bit much. Here's how it would really go... XP User: If I might as well move all my junk from XP - I might as well consider a MAC - #1 in user satisfaction. Computer Salesman: Great! We have a wide selection of MACs. XP User: Lets see... Intel... ...
A macbook pro cost about 1500, the lower end macbooks are 1000, it's really not that much. If you want to buy a crappy PC that's fine. But realize that when you buy a computer for 500 bucks and then it crashes in 2 years because it's loaded with viruses *which by the way macs don't get* you can go out and drop another 500 bucks and deal with the frusteration that's being a PC user. From someone ...
i was thinking something similar about those commercials they don't make a whole lot of sense to upgrade to windows 7 cost like what $100 or so for the OS? you have to buy an entire computer to switch to mac. so the whole "if we have to move our stuff its better to move to mac" is kind of dumb, maybe if you're buying a new computer it would make sense, but moving your files to windows 7 would ...
yeah, obviously if you're stuck with windows you're stuck with windows. but my advice is, the first chance you get to buy a new computer, buy a mac. i'll never forget talking to some arab on how to fix my pc and them walking me through installing a hard drive they thought was bad. not sure why the customer should do the maintenance but this is what PC users buy into with low low prices.

Another thing, Why should PC users have to be subjected to buying into crappy OS's because Microsoft can't get it right? And the comical thing is people who try to play off like there was nothing wrong with Vista. Seriously? Vista came out a year ago? Already scrambling to change the name and re-invent the wheel. They actually had something good in XP

I have owned PC after PC after PC...all crappy, all under a grand. Never had a problem with my mac. As a matter of fact, i had a macbook for 3 years, then bought the macbook pro. Nothing wrong with the macbook, but i have the money to throw around for such a quality product. But enjoy fighting off viruses on your PC.
I'm set to go to an Apple Class this Sunday and when I see what I can get I'll probably make a switch. I bought a Gateway with Vista in late '07. I sent it back to Gateway twice and finally took it back to Best Buy. The refunded the price and I applied it to a new HP. Six months later it crashed. I took it back and they replaced the hard drive, now a year later it is running on shaky grounds. I ...
If you're able then you can build a better PC for far cheaper than the equivalent MAC. Viruses are a total non issue if you know what you're doing also. A MAC is probably better for those who don't though.
Get a Mac and get applecare...you'll never regret it. What you just posted about your experiences with a PC pretty much sums up my PC experience. The two biggest knocks are price as it's a grand for a macbook and the OS....the OS itself isn't the problem, it's a great OS. It's just not what people are use to.
Flint, sure, there's a lot of talk on Apples side about how great they are. But they make quality products. I know it seems like gushing on my part, but i'm only satisfied that i'll never have to struggle with a PC again. Never have to worry about getting the blue screen of death or my PC powering down at random while I'm in the middle of doing something. Because I will never buy a PC again. Thanks Apple.
Every off season this thread seems to appear and it has taught me two things: 1) People who are addicted to message boards just like to choose teams and argue about anything 2) There are now windows users who are just as full of BS and annoying as old OS9 users (and LINUX users although I suspect that a good share of the BS windows team are really LINUX users) If you really want to figure out the difference between a MAC user who knows what...
Microsoft is on a roll....Windows Vista? Windows Mohave? Oh, but Windows 7 will be different i thought windows mohave was just a codename for windows vista, they are the same thing aren't those names super stupid though? mohave? really microsoft? so lame... just stick to numbers
Microsoft is on a roll....Windows Vista? Windows Mohave? Oh, but Windows 7 will be different windows vista was bad, but it was huge step in the right direction security wise. windows 7 builds on that and it's a sleek solid and resource efficient OS. windows mojave was a marketing scheme and not an OS, it was a commercial to show people that vista wasn't that bad by introducing people to it under the moniker "mojave"....
I'm not a computer genius by any stretch of the imagination, it's easy to build your own. I dunno i'm just the opposite i guess. I've had nothing but bad experience with apple products and find it frustrating you can fix things yourself. The mouse alone aggravates me to no end. Can you just put 2 buttons on it? why is it necessary to try to be so different.
Pretty good info passed out on this thread, I've gotten much out of the opinions proffered. I've used PC's for a while (since Windowns 95) I thought Windows XP was excellent but do not care for Vista at all. I have tinkered with 7 and it seems to be very smooth. Then again so did Vista. I never experienced crashes until I got Vista. I am though going to look at a Mac and see what makes them tick. The prices are high but the...
The Mac commercials were never really creative to me. Some of the things they touted as "features" were a testament to stupidity. Remember the one where PC was bandaged because he got knocked over? Macs have a power cord that apparently easily pulls out. Now, not only have I never knocked over any computer, desktop or laptop, I also learned around the age of 3 NOT TO RUN POWER CORDS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM. It's common sense....
Apple is a tremendous marketing company... fantastic really. They are very good at convincing those that have zero computer accumen that Windows is evil and Mac is great - without even once saying WHY Apple is actually a good product. 90% of theose ads are pure garbabe and placate to the dumbest of computer users. They have a great niche and lemming following no doubt. Windows has been completely solid, as someone has already stated, for some...
