Thread: Lymphocytic Colitis and Budesonide (Entocort) - Results?

Hello all. I'm about to see my GI again and I've been wondering about Budesonide (Entocort). My symptoms (abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, nonstop D) have gotten steadily worse in the past two years and aren't responding to OTC aids. I've read of Budesonide being somewhat successful in treating Crohns symptoms. Then there were some trials for effectiveness with Collagenous colitis. ...
Hi Kat, Sorry things are going so miserably for you. I've been where you are and can say it does eventually get better. I took Asacol which really helped during my most acute part of my first colitis attack which lasted about 2 years. Changes in diet have helped me immensely. I eat only whole foods, no preservatives, no antibiotics, no caffeine, no gluten, no cow's milk, etc. You can ...
Unfortunately microscopic colitis is relatively rare and we don't get that many people here that have had that. So I dunno if there is much personal experience with it on the board. I did find the clinical trial you mentioned but not much else. I found an article on it (hopefully the .pdf will open for you) http://www.zuidencomm.nl/njm/getpdf.php?id=1000041 6 with a case study that used...

IBD/IBS Author , Aww, thank you for your good wishes and encouragement. I'm very fortunate to have a supportive \(and patient!\) network of family and good friends, not to mention a compassionate GP -for all that I'm truly blessed. The MC sure can get me down, but never for long. I'll have to be six months in my grave before I'll stop fighting! I only get one life - and its worth ...
Kat, Very interesting history you gave. I was first Dx'd with MC in 1998. Then in 1999 when blood in my stool became persistent the Dx was changed to UC. About the same time I was also Dx'd with MVP - which was a huge surprise to me - and was put on Atenalol and also had to take anti-biotics for dental work. In 2001 the Atenalol was taking a toll and not making me feel well, but the ...
Patman75, I'm afraid I'm rather a newbie here and so I'm not familiar with many members. In my forum searches for Entocort info/experiences I'll be on the lookout for any posts by Artjunky in particular. Thank you very much for the lead!
Well, I saw my GI and I'm now started on a 4 month course of Entocort at 9mg a day. With my family history of diabetes he did say that he'd have problems prescribing Prednisone, but was very comfortable with the Entocort choice. He said that Entocort is a very good choice for treating MC that's been unresponsive to OTC aids, diet, and/or Asacol (mesalamine). He also said that its not an ...
Hi Kat, I remember that site you gave the link to well from my first months of trying to figure all this out. They do have good info., which it looks like you found. And am glad to hear you and your doctor have come up with a plan of action for you. Forward you go. Cheers, Elizabeth
Forward indeed. Its worked even better than I'd hoped. (IMG: http://www.ibsgroup.org/forums/style_emoticons/def ault/biggrin.gif ) Wow...just wow. Day 4 on the Entocort and I've got a whole new life. No D since day 1. none.at.all. I may actually need to balance this out with a mild laxative. Imagine that? Me, the D-Queen needing a laxative. wowser. Abdominal pains are about half what they...
Two weeks on Entocort and all is going very well. Still one or two BMs a day, soft but well formed. The abdominal pains have remained at an easily tolerable level. Its been going so well in fact that I've now aggravated the heck out of my sciatica because I've been engaging in so many activities that I couldn't for so long before. Biking, nature walks, yard work, home repair, dining/...
Thank you both for your well wishes. In my heart I wish I could throw a hug 'round you all and share my improved health, both physical and mental, with you. I swear...'healthy' folks do not appreciate what they have, or perhaps its more about what they don't have, like a disease that impairs their ability to function everyday. So many of them complain, quite a bit I must say, about performing the basic necessities of...
Hi Kat, What a wonderful place for you to be. So very happy to hear of this success for you. (IMG: http://www.ibsgroup.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif ) Keep livin' it up! E.

I found an article on it (hopefully the .pdf will open for you) http://www.zuidencomm.nl/njm/getpdf.php?id=10000416 with a case study that used that medication, but they did move onto another drug...
