Rebel is needing to switch to a Low Protien food. But it needs to be for a large breed. He is said to be growing too fast, and it could cause long term negative effects on his bones, and elasticity of his muscles. Any suggestions?
Well, my breeder had said to feed him Puppy Food up until he was 6 months. But when she emailed about 2 weeks ago, she asked his weight, and I told her over 60lbs, and she said he is growing way too fast, to only be 5 months old. So she said to switch him to an Adult food for Large Breeds, with less than 20% protein! I cant find anything. And yes, he is growing quite fast! So please help me!
Nothing with less than 20% is worth feeding, protein is so essential to a carnivorous body that anything under that is just going to starve the muscle reserves.
It really depends what you have available to you. Solid Gold has Wolf King, but it is a bit pricey. So if you tell me what store you have and how much you could swing to spend i'll try to help you out.

Ok. Well my retarded breeder said less than 20%. Maybe what we have him on is good then. We have him and Bailey on Diamond Premium Adult Dog Food. It has 22% crude Protein! I have always fed Bailey Diamond. So, let me know if it isn't a good quality. I thought someone on here told me Diamond was GREAT! I really can't afford more than 30 bucks. For example: We bought a 40lb bag of the Diamond ...
Diamond Naturals is good, it's at par with Kirkland Signature.
What you're feeding is the regular line which is at par with something like Iams or lower. It has byproducts as the only meat and includes corn, wheat, brewers rice, and beet pulp which are all fillers.
A good one to look for is Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul Dog food, it's got good ingredients and on the online stores ...

I ended up getting Diamond Naturals: Large Breed 60+ Formula! It was only 27.99!! No where else around here had the Large Breed Formula. So now they have a GREAT adult food, and it is for Large Breeds. Just what my kids need!!

Most breeders of large breeds do not advise puppy food for very long. You want slow growth. I also feed Diamond Naturals to all 4 of my German Shepherds, my pup at 4 months went to the adult food. They're doing fine on it. I like other foods better, but finances dictate at times.
