^ I´m very surprised that area of the river front hasn´t been redeveloped yet as the rest of the city looks like a huge construction site. I´m sure they will replace most of those buildings with better looking ones soon though, I mean why wouldn´t they? Not that modern office blocks are much more beatiful but in case of a redevelopment of the area I guess the pedestrian path would be widened...

Gosh, the 1970's was not London's most attractive era - look how dirty Westminster Abbey and Tower Bridge are.

Damn...the riverfront looked so good back then...

Indeed..would have been awesome to explore all little alleys and corners around the docks. Absolutely beatiful buildings, especially the ones on the right side of the pic. Unfortunately (for some odd reason) I wasn´t able to colourise the sky.

Personally i dont think it looked good, but it looked atmospheric and interesting. Any attmep to reintroduce it would be disney esque unfortunately.

Victoria and Albert Museum opens a new gallery on 2 of December called 'Medieval and Renaissance Galleries'. One of the highlights is a facade of a timber-framed house built before the Great Fire of 1666. A truly rare survivor. And of course loads of other treasures from the period - 300-1600. Sir Paul Pindar's House In 1597 Sir Paul Pindar bought several properties in Bishopsgate, just outside the walls of the city of London,...

Its unfortunate that the red brick building on the west side of Tottenham Ct Rd has had much of its detailing including corner turret removed at roof level. Also, the building on the east side behind the Y has been "modernised" and reclad - again a loss of detail and conical roof, though the building is still there. Shame about the Y, but Goering rather than developers deserves the credit for this unfortunate loss.

Its the idea/ impression Langur, not the pedantics of the reality. Imagine how much more impressive this building would look, and the sense of space if it had a light coloured road is what Im saying: compared, the feel we could get, and what we do: I think UK should be one of the first countries to have pale asphalt, especially with our light. Markings dark on pale rather than bright on black, which is just too vivid and detracting to any...
