Since I was the one who wondered what was up with Lord Nicholas initially, and I just happened to see this posting, I am astonished at the news of this wedding. I am really surprised he's marrying someone more exotic than the usual British Royal spouse -- and pretty amazed he managed to pull this off without the tabloids getting into it.
Buckingham Palace press releases
ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE ENGAGEMENT OF LORD NICHOLAS WINDSOR
26 September 2006
THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS ISSUED BY THE PRESS SECRETARY TO THE QUEEN
The Duke and Duchess of Kent are pleased to announce the engagement of their son Nicholas to Paola, daughter of Don Louis and Donna Ingrid Doimi de Frankopan of London.
The Vatican is big (well, I mean, the complex of buildings) and counts a lot of churches and chapels.
What do they mean with 'the Vatican'?
The Basilica di San Pietro? The Capella Sistina? The Capella Paolina? The Capella della Sala Mathilde? The Capella di Nicola V?
For an example, Princess Irene of the Netherlands married in Rome too, but not at the Vatican. She married in the ...
They are suggesting that Nicholas will marry "inside" the Vatican. The Daily Mail didn't say "The Vatican", they said, "St Peter's Basilica" but I doubt that. Whatever, if they do marry in the Vatican, the Queen will be unlikely to go.
I doubt that His Holiness will celebrate the Holy Mass for their marriage. Not at the enromous Basilica, has there ever been a royal wedding in there anyway?

The Queen doesn't usually go to weddings of...
The Pope definately won't have anything to do with this marriage. He may meet the couple before or after their wedding if he's "at home" but the Pope really only does baptisms and sometimes funerals, not weddings. There's been quite a few weddings in the Vatican - and I think there's been a few in St Peter's Basilica but it'll be a matter of time and date. If they want an Easter or Lent time ...

The Queen doesn't usually go to weddings of her cousin's children even if they're CofE, so I doubt the location would be the reason for her absence.
Thats what I meant. Add the fact that it's in Rome though, and it's almost definate that she just won't go. Unless of course she teamed the wedding up with a visit to the Pope. She hasn't met ...
Has there been any verification to the rumor that Lord Nicholas is gettng married. The last I read was a claim that an announcement was to be forthcoming. Has that indeed occured?
Well the nessecity to get British citizenship has, by and large, been replaced by EU citizenship. A Princess of Liechtenstein would be able to live and work in Britain with no real need to aquire British citizenship - something she'd get upon marriage to Lord Nicholas anyway.
Since George V changed a law in 1917, only children and grandchildren of a monarch are permitted to use the title and style of Royal Highness, Prince/ss of Great Britain and Northern Ireland/Prince of insert father's title here. Since Nicholas isn't the grandson of a monarch, only the great-grandson, he doesn't have that title, only the title of the son of a duke. If George V hadn't changed the law, he would be His...

No and I don't think they will. Maybe you have to wait for some "friend" talking to the tabloids like it happened when she was pregnant with Albert. They are private persons with not obligation to announce or confirm

Lady Windsor as the wife of a Lord. Nicholas should barely have the name Windsor, let alone be important enough that his wife automatically be styled with his name. If I remember correctly, even if their children were raised Church of England, they cannot bear titles (though they would be in the line of succession). But since Nicholas took himself out with his Catholic conversion, is married to a Catholic and they clearly intend to raise...
