Thread: Look To Move Mom -Can't Drive after Stroke, but young 60! Any Good, safe and affordable areas of Ocala?

Does anyone have info. on Sun City Center... as far as living expenses, condo or HOA fees, etc. and what is included in the fees. What I have found on the chamber site does seem to be of interest. Any other areas that we sould consider would be appreciated as well!!! Thanks!

I like Gainesville alot - work there and live in a nearby bedroom community. There are retirement communities there and excellent health care because of Shands Hospital and its associated clinics. We bought a second home in Stone Creek which is right next to OTOW. I don't think she will be able to walk to anything from there as there is not much there. She would have to get (by auto) to Highway 200 and then go east from there and she will find what she needs, but to think she can walk it would not be feasible.

Would prob. expand your search to other 55+ communities (there's several in the area), apartments and trailer parks and see what's affordable and what's near daycare centers, stores, offices etc (places where she'd seek employment). Prob. the best way for her to get a feel for it is to visit for a few days in person with someone knowledgable about the area, transportation etc, she needs to get the 'lay of the...

We visited Sun City Center outside Tampa and that community may be what you are looking for. A highway splits Sun City there and along the highway is most any kind of store one might need. Most everything is golf cart accessible on both sides of the highway and there are four locations where golf carts can cross the highway. Just a thought since it is so different from any Sun City we have visited.
