Thread: Living with the Hirsch Aero

Started 4 weeks ago by paolo
Well after nearly 7 months ownership I must say that the 'Saabscene only' Hirsch Aero has me completely hooked. I'm totally at home with her now, knowing how far I can push her into corners (the Hirsch suspension and Hirsch alloys are sublime) and just how to get the best out of the autobox. I never use 'Sport' mode now, relying on on the superb torque offered in 3rd/4th/5th ( via the ...

QUOTE(norfolk jim @ 28 Aug 2009, 17:29 ) ...which auto calibrates via GPS with autoupdates all the while.. Fascinating. How does knowing where you are affect wheel alignment? (GPS only downloads timing information) You've been sold a dummy. This post has been edited by Neil of Stevenage : 28 Aug 2009, 16:47

QUOTE(norfolk jim @ 28 Aug 2009, 18:22 ) Neil - Sorry mate you've got the wrong end of the stick. The GPS system is used to constantly monitor the equipment and ensure it is always up to date - bit like windows update on a pc via internet. It send signal back to SUN via the GPS and if SUN computer has mor eup dated info it returns the data download. Simple really and very very ...

I've already accepted I put down the wrong letter so Neil has won. My topic is on recommending an excellent firm for 4 wheel alignment. They also do air-con diagnositcs and repairs, brake disc skimming and aligning etc............................ If they are good enough for Jaguar and Merc they are good for me.

Jim Not a question of winning or losing. I thought the forum existed to exchange knowledge for the benefit of all. Just that some people seem to post comments in a manner that are frankly patronising and condescending at times which I do not feel is either helpful or warranted.

I agree I would not stoop to put down my qualifications in architecture. I put one letter wrong and - oops I got t wrong. Trouble is some people always have to be winners????? ANyway the car behaves much better and steering response is more noticeable. With the toe set correctly now I should be doing what Aus said to save on fuel. We'll see as I have a nice drive to Wast Water this week ...

Jim Glad you are happy with your new tyres. We all make mistakes, some people graduated in 1970 but also, according to their profile were born the same year!! Good to know we are all human

QUOTE(norfolk jim @ 29 Aug 2009, 11:52 ) These Vredestein (have I spelt it right) Sessanta (meaning 60) tyres seem really good so far so this drive will give them a good test Hi Jim, I'll be very interested to know how you get on with the Vredesteins. I'm just about to get tyres for my Aero and I can get the Vredesteins at a reasonable price, so I'm tempted. I read that they ...

I reckon you could get away with fitting plain flat ones to the wheel arch and sill covers. I did this for the rears on my Aero but in the end didn't bother on the front because the covers seem to do a reasonable job of preventing most of the splash etc.

QUOTE(CitTone @ 2 Dec 2009, 13:28 ) I have just got some Bosch wipers off ebay, (£9 the pair, no spoilers) and, not only do they not skip like my old ones (with spoilers), they appear to have cured the problem I had with the rain-repellent coating on my screen! Either they've scraped the stuff off, or the problem was actually with the wiper blades all along! So come on, don't tease us, give us a...

9-5 Auto Noise on Acceleration

Have had the sumped dropped off, cleaned and replaced, whilst a new turbo has been fitted. So far (100 miles in), the noise seems to have gone away so my guess it was turbo related.

Cheers fellas , it just seems daft that a car company like Saab who used to build cars for the extreme conditions in Sweden don't make flaps for 1 of there cars , my old 900 classic even has flaps in front of the rear wheels to reduce spray , ah well another GM cutback I guess !!

The wipers arrived the day after I bought them which is excellent service. Well packaged, etc. Genuine GM part and were also easy to fit (and believe me it has to be easy for me to do it!). Well done to Droitwich Garage, Saab dealers in Worcs.

QUOTE(Mark E @ 1 Dec 2009, 11:40 ) Because not everyone has easy access to a trade counter? But most towns have a motor factors, otherwise who would supply the independent garages in the area? IIRC when I was seeing a girl from ‘buzzard years ago, I went to one your way for bits for her knackered Golf… it was called LCP or LCS or something like that.
