Starting to make a real impression with the addition of the next floor
For once I like the irregular window facade..
Interestingly the second floor is marked as a mezzanine..
This first photo highlights the main downside to the slivery/grey cladding.. in a certain light and against a grey skyline it can look very dull..
However from most angles, and for most of the time (especially when it has some sun on it) it looks fantastic..
The bluer the sky, the better it looks
Great photos Tom.
One Park West does seem to suffer in dull light, but I still really like it, and I think, despite the planning-forced design changes, it still makes a real statement.
I also like the irregular end to the Hilton. What could have been a featureless wall (think St. John's Holiday Inn), now has some interest.
By my count, the new columns that have gone up recently, would ...
The shiny silver cladding on top of the new cinema is one of my favorite features of the project, it reminds me of the Unity box when it catches the sun
Work progressing on the steps..

I was having a conversation with someone today about social housing. What is the deal there, does anybody know? For example would Grosvenor have to give a percentage of One Park West over for social housing in order to get planning permission for the block or would they have to agree to build an element of social housing into Liverpools new city centre?

I wasn't going to, but people are raving about it, so I must say I am getting increasingly tempted, despite the £6 ticket. id disagree with that. I like it. Only earlier i was thinking it slightly difficult to tell the difference between lipsy, give and a couple of others whilst on an xmas recon trip. There is such a thing as excessive conformity and this adds a little interest. In reality though SJS is grovenors fiefdom, not LCCs. Itd take a hell of a problem for the council to flex its muscles and interfere with the frontage.

If the Liverpool One wheel stays I cant see the Arena one being a success. The views from the Albert Dock should be better but Liverpool One has the huge benefits of footfall on its doorstep.
sounds a bit like a gimmick, seems like a way of trying to make staff fight for survival by obsessively selling product before the majority get the heave ho after the initial period, hardly suprising from the company that has been previously been convicted for discriminaton because of its lack of ethics
I went to Red Hot Buffet yesterday and it was brilliant for me because the kids loved it.The best part about it was the fact that they could have any type of cuisine they liked without the usual arguement about whether we eat here or there. It's definitely value for money and the food's lovely,I highly recommend it.
