Thread: Little things that everybody seems to think about themselves

I've noticed that there are a bunch of things that if you ask a person, they will answer almost uniformly as if they are talking about a trait that is unique to him/her, when obviously such a trait cannot be unique if everyone claims it. That probably made no sense, but here are some examples:
- That they have a really random/eclectic taste in music. This is usually said when someone is ...

I think all of those are generally right. And yes, those first two really fucking annoy me. An eclectic taste in music does not equal having Jay-Z and a country album. Shut the fuck up.
Except, I know that Colorado is a state with some of the craziest weather in the country. The constant temperature swings, 60 degree weather in January followed by a foot of snow, etc. For example, there were ...

ugh, i can't fucking stand the music thing
what they say: "i listen to all kinds of different music. i'm very open-minded."
what they mean: "i don't have the balls to stand by my choices because i fear not being accepted by my peers."
1. I do listen to random pieces of music from various genres, so screw you guys. It's not so much that I am "eclectic" but moreso that my tastes in music do not fall within a single category.
2. On the whole, I am not lazy or a procrastinator. I consider myself to be more industrious than average.

I never said that there was anything wrong with listening to a great variety of music. I just think it's funny that most people(in my experience) will tell you that the music they listen to is all over the place, when I'd say that's more the norm than something unique these days. It's funny because people often use it as a qualifier, as if they are afraid that somebody will criticize them for the contents of their ipod.
