I am getting maried here in Chicago, with only about 50 people attending the wedding. There is only 8 people in our wedding party including us. We are not getting married in a church, so I had just planned on taking the bridal party to the space the night before to make sure they are comfortable with it. Do we really need to have a rehearsal dinner? I know it is traditionally hosted by the ...

I am in a similar situation, but in addition my side of the family has never done the RD. We are planning on just inviting the wedding party and parents out for pizza. A small group but enough to make my FIL happy. http://anna-and-ethan.weebly.com/

I've read that if you are having a very small wedding (such as 50 people), that rehearsal dinners aren't necessary (was it on frugalbride.com from another knotties post yesterday?). Anyway, you could still do it out of tradition if you want to, but it's not necessary, expecially if there's no church/rehearsal involved. I think it would be fun to just take the wedding party out for drinks or ...

If you're not rehearsing you don't need to have a RD. However, you said you want to take your bridal party to the site to show them the place. If you do that, I think you need to do something, but with that small a size, I'd just invite the people over to your place for pizza, or something else low key. My bio

I am invited to a wedding this weekend that I cannot attend due to the fact that I am a bridesmaid in another wedding on the same day! I'm not really friends with the bride anymore, and I think she just invited me because our parents are still neighbors. I wasn't sure what to give her as a wedding present or how much if I send her a check. The invitation also read "Please no boxed gifts". Any...

No boxed gifts? May as well have read "CASH ONLY"

rhodesign replied 3 months, 2 weeks ago
No boxed gifts, huh. That's kinda rude. If you aren't really friends with her anyway, and it's not an obligation, why send anything? I know it's polite, but she doesn't seem to care about politeness. Also, the no boxed gifts probably applies to those attending, so you're well within your right to send a registry gift if you like to her house. "I'm only this far, and only tomorrow leads ...

I think it's a total judgement call on your end. I always consider things like, how well do I know them, am I attending or not attending. If I were in your shoes (and based on my financial situation) I would probably give $25-50, more if you and partner/spouse were invited. My Bio Wedding Slideshow

I am really impressed with their work on their website, but FI say that the starting coverage starts at $2900 and thinks that's too much (he's afraid of getting hit with extra charges that add up). However, photography is the one thing I don't mind splurging a little bit on. I would love to hear your experience with them, if you thought the money was worth it, and how much you appox spent with ...

Rant: I can't count

I just got off the phone with my FI and I was sort of freaking out. I thought about that though, I have no problem paying that money in upgrades, food, drinks, linens, dessert, whatever...I just don't want to waste it. I'm just hoping that our venue will be flexible. What type of polace are you lokoing for? Since our reception was at a country club and we were already getting greenery shots there, we took pics at Tinley Park train station after our ceremony. There are lots of cool spots there to take pics. There's a link to my pro pics in my married bio (I believe the train station pics are under the excursion section of the pics) if you want to check them out. There's also several forest...
