Thread: License Plates on GoWesty Bumpers

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by keithwwalker
If you got GoWesty bumpers, where did you put your license plate on the front? I just got my set and no provision for front license plate. I may put mine offset with one hole going through the big bolted bumper mounting and then velcro the other side.... Any ideas?

I used 4 self tapers the plate fits just fine.

I drilled 4 holes, used four 1/4" x .75" bolts and nuts, and bought a steel licence plate holder from Canadian Tire that matches the bumper nicely, and is wickedly strong when bolted down. I mounted mine way off center so my eventual hitch mount won't interfere.

I put mine dead center. Lined it up and drilled and tapped (4) 10-32 holes. Fastened with some nice stainless button head screws.

I just never mounted mine and roll with the front plate behind my seat. "Sorry officer, I just haven't mounted it yet." I would rather not drill into my bumper that's all.

Offset sounds best, I would probably mess up and get it off center...

I had my plate on the dashboard but still got a fix-it ticket. I installed front and center on the bumper. You should check with your State's DMV about offset license plates before you drill your holes. I'm sure offset plates are allowed - but usually there has to be some sort of pre-existing condition that causes the offset mounting (e.g., a center-mounted wench, etc.).

Here is Oregon's rule, which does not prohibit front offset mounting: If only one license plate is issued, it must be displayed on the rear of the vehicle. If two plates are issued, one must be displayed on the front of the vehicle and the other on the rear of the vehicle. Plates must be in plain view so as to be easily read by the public and law enforcement (See ORS 803.540).
