Thread: Lets vote is she kinda overrated?

I think Janet is a great singer. I love her voice. She sings like an Angel, in my opinion....a lot better than some praised singers.

I think she is overrated compared to her brothers (apart from Michael) and her sisters. Jermaine and La Toya have had some good music (I don't care, Toy's not that bad, she had some good stuff in the day) but the reason Janet broke out of Michael's shadow while the others didn't is because she was the most talented. When she came out with Control and Rhythm Nation, people forget just how fresh, new and exciting she was....

Overrated? Surely you jest. Her talent and accomplishments are evident and varied. If anything, she doesn't get her just do as an entertainer, icon, and inspiration to the Ciaras and Britneys of the world.

The original poster is obviously too young to understand how huge Janet was fron '86 through the early-to-mid '90s. Mary J. Her voice is very VERY weak. She can sing half decent when she wants to but even when she does "sing out" she's still not that great. But what she lacks vocally, she makes up for everywhere else: -Creativity -Style -Choreography -PERFORMING! I am a huge fan I think she is still to this date one of the best performers out there. But I cannot deny it, her singing isn't very good. Her range is very limited.
