Yes, it's from the RIL. A terrific photo that I had to paint. My question...is the blue too saturated??? Seems to me that it is. Any help is so appreciated!

Hi Dana. This is really nice and when I first opened it I thought it was a pastel. I like the sunlight reflecting off the foreground rocks and trees. I would lighten the water a little and also add some green to it. I like the pines in the background ( can't be from Colorado and not like pines). It you lighten them your painting will show more depth. Glad you are trying landscapes. After all the ...

Yes, would be my answer. Regardless of the photo (which I have not seen) the chroma of the blue is totally distracting and subtracting from the rest of the excellent painting. I would also grey off with blue the upper left treed area for perspective.

Thanks, Lenore and Marie. Yes, that blue is just so jarring to me. I will definitely be changing it and softening the background with more neutral colors. Thanks again!

This is a lovely composition, painted beautifully. The intense blue issue has already been dealt with so I just want to mention that the upward diagonal thrust of the grasses seems too aligned and would look better if randomized more.

Thanks, Bob! I did have it painted randomly at first but it looked very confusing...probably just my awful method of painting. But I'm learning so much!

new subjects are so much fun...I think you are onto something.... gee...I thought the wind was blowing the grasses....silly me...? perhaps a few leaves in flight would have cinched that notion for me.... I like it....keep after it....heaven knows...when it comes to landscapes.... there is never a shortage of subjects......yd

Yeah, getting good photos is such a pain. It seem like I need to upgrade my camera almost as much as my art-supplies. Sigh Of course it's true! I hope I haven't developed a reputation for untruths! I've had the great privilege of seeing a few of Renoir's originals. Not everyone appreciates his talent--such a dedicated artist! Your brushwork on the landscapes is quite reminiscent of his—especially his later works (but not...
