Thread: La To Magnum

I have a 1999 magnum 5.9 complete with wiring harness and computer can i put it in my 82 d150 and hook it up to my 3sp auto or do i have to find a 4spd for same year as motor. also do i have to run cat's and o2 sensors since it is all computerized. i would really like to keep all the new accessory upgrades. my other option is to go to a carb and do away with fuel injection. i would like to keep ...

Cage, maybe the guy that asked the question should decide if the info is helpful. The reason I supplied it was that he had not received any other responses to his question.

While I'm not positive, but since the 46re for '99 is computer shifted I would think that it set a code for the CEL and may not run optimal without having that trans in there (no vehicle speed sensor, etc). May go into a limp in mode. If it were me I'd be swapping the trans too just to have the overdrive. Mopar Performance does make a fuel injecton kit for their crate engines which looks to...

The 92-95 harness and computer is the way to go and if you want to run a 904 just use a manual trans computer. I did actually put a 94 auto computer in a 94 manual truck and did not get a CEL so you might be fine really even with the auto computer. Like was mentioned earlier if you use the 96+ computer you will have a code and CEL with out a functioning cat in it.
