Thread: LR3 free-form layout

Started 2 months ago by esa46wgnr
If I tprint two photos on one page, the new free-form layout is fine, because it helps optimising paper usage and positioning different photos. But when one of the photos is portrait, I have not found how to rotate it so that both photos would lie horizontally. If I rotate the portrait before in library-module, it still stands vertically in print layout. What have I missed? Cheers, Esa...

You didn't need the new Custom Package for that. Use the old Single Image engine, set to 2 cells on a page and tick the Rotate to Fit box. Still, it's a valid request. IMages should be able to rotate to best fit the cell in Custom Package.

Thank You very much. In fact I have done things in the "old way" but was wondering exactly what You called the "best fit" in new packages.Esa 2009/10/23 Dorin Nicolaescu-Musteață < forums@adobe.com > You didn't need the new Custom Package for that. but was wondering exactly what You called the "best fit" in new packages. I was saying that it was missing in the new packages - an option that would automatically rotate a vertical photo to match a horizontal cell.

Lets put this feature in Request List Esa.

I just came here to mention the exact same thing.  We need "rotate to fit" for the custom packages.  Also, when you turn off "lock to aspect ratio" I can't find a way to "pan" around the image...if I try to drag the image within the frame, the whole frame moves instead.

I've been playing with the Custom Pacakges and think its a great addition.   For me the Lock to Photo Aspect Ratio doesn't appear to do anything.  Is it working for you guys? Colin

The lock to image aspect works for me, but you have to have an image in the cell first so it knows what to lock to. Did you have an image in that cell, or was it an empty cell?

MartinNohr replied 1 month, 1 week ago
Using the old single image engine only allows you to have each image the same size, the whole point of custom package is to allow different sizes. Each of these cells must be able to be rotated/panned to fit best, otherwise the custome package is very limited. Cheers, Martin

Martin.... I can't seem to repeat the original problem so now the aspect ratio lock appears to be working just fine. Rotation of image rather than just cell would be a good idea. Colin
