Thread: LIBERALS are not realistic abut political reality.

Even with a liberal President we still are not going to get everything we want. If you have a way to oust all Republican's, and blue dogs, out of office, by all means do it.
Obama has to get what he can get. If the current healthcare bill expands coverage to millions more people then it is a good thing. If it lowers costs, it is a good thing. I do not care if this is done through the ...
Obama a liberal...now that's funny. He's not even left of center. I guess some people think if you say it enough it makes it so. People who characterize Obama as a liberal are being unrealistic and living some fantasy I dare not dream.
Ok...as a liberal who is deeply disappointed with Obama, exactly what are you trying to convey to us liberals? That we're not being realistic? That we're complaining too much? That we should just "grin and bear it" and just go out and vote for more democrats in 2010 and 2012 and just stop complaining?
I encourage everyone to follow my example and vote his conscious. Since the so-...
I recognize the job of the liberal is to continue to exert constant pressure on the current administration and congress to move policy and legislation as close to the liberal / progressive positions as possible. Moving the political spectrum of a country like ours is like shifting the course of an ice burg. While screaming at the ice burg may seem satisfying -- the key is constant pressure....
Moderates are not realistic about compromises.
Quote: I do not care if this is done through the private insurance companies or not. I want results.
Not caring about if the murderous Insurance Industry is part of the "solution" misses the point.
Letting them be part of the new plan is like letting Goldman Sachs design the remedy for our Economy....
So let me make sure I understand political reality. Political reality is something that we are dealt. It is a given. And while it may evolve according to its own internal dynamic, no person or group, not representatives, not senators, not the president, and certainly not any of us either individually or collectively has any control over it. It just is.
Our only option in dealing with ...
The subject line of this topic makes slightly sense when stated as follows:
LIBERALS are not realistic about political reality in a fascist state masquerading as a democracy .
The words of establishment figures lead the average citizen to expect concern for his or her welfare; the acts of the politicians suggest otherwise. Is it any wonder then that confusion abounds?

Exactly. There is no middle ground in fascism and Obama...like it or not is a corporatist aka fascist. Some people act like there is a dialogue between Obama and us. There isn't. Just like Bush he does what he wants to do and regardless of how many...
"...they (leadership/congress) are doing what comes natural to them - representing their core values and beliefs..."
That's good to know...
Now guess what?
In November 2010 and November 2012, I'm going into the voting booth to do exactly what comes natural to me (can you say, "write-in candidates")...
Obama has to answer this question: does he consider his base to...
Totally understood - so I want proof! Dont't give me 2003 cases that are being adjudicated by Italian officials - give me current poof that torture has and is being done and or sponsored by the US since the beginning of this year. I'm not saying that I don't believe that you'll have instances - but I want to see proof. Until I see proof - torture isn't currently being done by the US.

lyris wrote: Don't get me wrong I like Dennis, we really need him, but there comes a time you have to be practical. I hope we do have single payer health insurance, but reality says neither the gop nor the blue dogs are going to go for it. The gop can take a giant leap, but we need the blue dogs unfortunately. As for what I am, I'm not sure if I'm a Liberal Moderate or a Moderate Liberal. Does it matter? I'm also...
Victor Kermit wrote: Now, Yuri...you know that no amount of proof will ever be of sufficient quantity to meet the "moderate" threshold... How about just simple logic? Now that its widely known -- beyond the shadow of a doubt -- that the U.S. has been a torture state for years, it can be viewed as an extraordinary claim to say that suddenly, overnight, all the criminal abuses of detainees have stopped. As such, the onus of...

It's true that Kucinich is bucking the majority and probably will be defeated, but that doesn't mean he's finished. All fighters get knocked on their ass now and then...
here's one: http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=13672 Quote: While torture under the Bush administration was horrible, at least it has stopped. Right? Wrong. Jeremy Scahill (the reporter who broke most of the stories on Blackwater) says that a military police unit at Guantanamo regularly brutalizes unarmed prisoners, including gang-beating them, breaking their bones, gouging their eyes and dousing them with...

But they won't accept caving. It's betrayal. "...it insults their intelligence and it makes them very angry..." Well said. Hey. Somebody said once that "It's hard work!" Kidding. The whole thing was well said....
