Thread: Kimber Custom II or HK USP 45 Please Help me to decide!!!

Started 3 months ago by ajm091385
Hi guys, this is my first time here at 1911 forum. I've been planning to get a 45ACP handgun since I already have a Glock 17 (9mm) and Glock 22 (40 cal) and right now I'm choosing between the Kimber Custom II and HK USP 45. I'd like to know more about the Kimber Custom II because this I never had a 1911 before. I figure to join in this forum because I know there is more people here would know ...

HK if you want to take it home, clean it, lube it and then go shoot it without irritating break in issues. My last malfunction in my Custom II was around 800 rounds through it. Therefore I could not trust it until around 2000 rounds. My USP has not had any malfunctions in 1600+ rounds.

I'm a 1911 guy myself but the new HK 45, the one that replaces the HK USP 45 is a damn nice gun. I think my biggest draw to the 1911 though is how easy you can make them one of a kind. I like being able to customize them and make them yours. You know what I mean? Even if you buy all off the shelf upgrades chances are no two 1911's are completely exactly the same. Just fun guns to ...

I'm not really looking forward to tweak the kimber custom II or the USP 45 I just want to carry them on the winter time and shoot it on the range. maybe the only thing I'm gonna put on the gun is a night sights and thats about it. but anyway, I still want to hear more opinions from you guys and help me decide between the two, the USP 45 is one of my dream handguns. but I'd like to have a nice but...

Tough situation you are in. If I was you, I would go with the USP now and the Kimber later. The USP is a tank. A friend of mine has a USPC in .357SIG. NEVER jamed, ever, in over 3K rounds.... If you can, get the USP, scrounge a little extra cash and get an RIA to hold you over. I would check to see if you can find a used HK45 if you are in the market for one.

I would go with the Kimber, as my Kimber had no "break in" problems, its shot 100% out of the box reliable since day one (over 3 yrs now and unknown amount of rounds). I'm not a big fan of the HK's trigger, but that is just my opinion (and I'm no expert ). I do believe that you will not go wrong with either one, so pick the one that has the features you like and don't look back (of course you ...

Get your dream handgun first.

You will definitely enjoy and get more satisfaction out of a Kimber CII 45ACP. ....a very nice factory trigger pull plus most of the essential goodies already installed.

It depends on what you want the gun for. If it's CCW, the USP is lighter, but is roughly of similar size to a Desert Eagle. I would go with the Kimber for CCW. If its for range shooting, the USP in .45 is a tack driver, but then again, so re many 1911s. As for reliability I have been shooting a Kimber Compact in stainless since it first came out many, many years ago and it has...

KIMBER,, just got one and lover it....

If you just want the gun to shoot and not have to mess with it, the HK is a lot more likely to run out of the box. There are those that got a Kimber and it ran just fine right out of the box, but there are also those who needed to get it fixed, and had to deal with Kimber's crappy customer service. HK's customer service isn't much better, but at least you probably wont ever need it.

Both are very fine handguns but which one do you shoot better?

I have had both but now just my Kimber! I have an Ultra Carry II and no issues so far(500+ rounds)! You would be better suited if you go to a local gunshop and try them on! I thought Id like the USP but after shooting it realized it didnt fit my hand properly and had issues getting it to shoot where I wanted the rounds to go! I bought my first 1911 after that and there was no looking back! Honestly the best one for YOU is the one that fits YOU...

I have a Kimber Stainless custom II and I own a HK USP 9 full size frame. I shot 6 five gallon buckets worth of brass through the HK and I can honestly say that I have never had a jam, failure to feed . . nothing, not one single hiccup. The Kimber I like but I've had a problem with fully loaded mags chambering the first round every now and then.
