Hi,
I bought a 93 p-u that had been sitting around for over two years. The key will not open either door (lock stuck), fuel lid cover (lock stuck) and once the key is turned to lock in the ignition it is very hard to get it out of the locked position to get it started.
How can I get the locks unstuck? I only received one key from the seller and I think it's wore out. Can I get ...
I think with the dealer you use the VIN #, as to the door locks and such you should be able to use a spray lube, try to find one that is synthetic or use a lock lube found at auto parts stores.

and take your title or proof of ownership with you to the dealer when you go. They sometimes will, but should not cut you a key if you can't prove you oun the vehicle. Dealers have cut keys for car thieves. after all the vin is right on the dash for all to see.
So they can cut a fresh key for me right from the VIN number? Cool!
That's what I think I need for the ignition, the door locks just need loosened up with some lube.
Zubie, I will get some pictues posted someday, I have just been busy. I'm currenty installing a stereo (CD,amps, subs, door speaker)
Thanks
Sometimes the doors locks don't loosen up though either. My door locks were shot, and my ignition was so bad you could take the key out once the truck was started, and then to ice the cake someone robbed my house and got my keys in the process. So I bought and entire new set from toyota and replaced everything and had a brand new cut key to go with it. Now everything works the way it ...
Definately try some lock lube first. Also, heating up the key first helps sometimes. I usually do that for frozen locks, but it sometimes helps stuck ones. Hold the key under a lighter or something.
The passanger side door lock on my 81 refuses to move even though I sprayed the crap out of it with WD40, drivers side is fine, you might find the ignition key moves easier from the locked position if you move the steering wheel slightly to take pressure off the lock.
