Thread: Kangaroo skin gloves

Started 2 months ago by Kumabjorn
Golf gloves made by kangaroo skin are very thin yet durable and they have an excellent grip even in wet weather. However, I can't seem to find them anymore. Have they been discontinued? I'm certainly not condoning hunting kangaroos for the prpose of making golf gloves, but like any other animal eventually they do die and since their skin seems to be the ultimate for golf gloves it certainly would...

I have never heard of them, and I'm an OZ But I would never play anything but synthetic. I'm not fond on the idea of using animal skin for anything at all...

I don't know about golf gloves, but they make awesome motorcycle gloves. I have a pair of Teknic gloves with kangaroo leather palm and fingers (on the underside.) I think it's pretty expensive, and most US retailers don't carry them (probably because kangaroos are a lot cuter than cows.)

My brother used to work for drummond golf here in Australia and he got a bunch of these for free to trial when they were just being released. This was about 10 years ago though so I wouldn't be surprised if they're discontinued. Let me do a bit of research and I'll see what I can find for you...

Would be interesting to know if he found them as excellent as I do. And yes, they were darn expensive, a little more than twice what regular leather gloves cost. So they would most likely be close to $50 if they can even be found.

If you haven't already ordered these and they're ripping you off for international shipping I'd be happy to act as the middle man and charge you exactly what Australia post charges. Just let me know mate, and yes my brother did like them but didn't play enough golf to warrant purchasing them.

There's an Australian company called "Brosnan Golf" that makes kangaroo skin gloves. The details are here -> Brosnan Golf > Our Gear > Gloves & Shoes > Gloves Don't worry too much about the prospect of kangaroos becoming extinct. Their numbers are huge. There's always been a problem with them chomping on farmer's crops. Problems caused by kangaroos and wallabies
