Sounds like one of the items is partially for charity anyways. Really, Blizzard views WoW as a nerd hobby right up there with Warhammer tabletop, D&D and Final Fantasy merchandise. They are going to milk it for all they can.
That really pisses me off, so much. Jesus Christ, Blizzard, you used to be the last honest gaming company. I only hope sc2 isn't tainted with bull**** like this.
For one fifth the price of the original game I can get a single extra model, sounds like a steal! I figured Blizzard was above blatant abuse like this, maybe Activision has started chipping away at their morals.
Zornack posted: IT'S A PET! Who cares? Yeah. I don't like the server, race and faction transfers, but this is not bad, especially since some of it is for charity.

It's really not a big deal. It's really not any worse than buying cards for in game novelty items. It won't affect anyone in the game who doesn't have it. If anything, it just shows the people who aren't very smart about wasting their money. In the end, unless someone can convince the masses to boycott the whole thing(which isn't ...
I'd be more impressed if they were donating 100% of the funds on the Pandaren to charity, or maybe 50% to the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the other 50% to panda conservation efforts (hellooooo, China!). I don't really care what they charge for optional fluff like this-- I'd rather the faction/race/name changes were cheaper, but maybe ...

Sick of wandering around an increasingly spectacular looking world with a four year old character model? New 'Premium'...
The gaming companies that only care about money would be the ones like Acclaim or Factor 5 who went out of business and didn't pay the employees or tell them about it. There are morality standards in business. Like Vei said, Blizzard had a reputation for following them. Of course it's the mandate of every business to grow financially. But there are much more wholesome routes to doing it than to charge you 3$ for something that...
_Vei_ posted: it's not melodramatic, microtransactions like this are STUPID. microtransactions in games shouldn't be encouraged at all, especially when it's something like 10$ for a pet, that's just taking advantage of some peoples' hobbies. You're making it seem like Katie is an addict that needs to get WoW pets to live. Date Edited: 11/5/2009 4:38:53 PM (1 edit total) edited by : GLopez12
Heh, just noticed your name. Did you register specifically to post in this thread? Anyways, if you want to argue from a strictly economic point, than sure, you're right, but the fact is -- a lot of companies (and I believe Blizzard is one of them) don't really give a damn about the bottom line so long as they're having fun (and in the green). Of course they're going to have to kowtow to pressure from Activision now and...
