The meteorolgical analogy is most seasonally appropriate. Unlike LoT, most of us do not live on the Republican permafrost. Snow melts off the roof in the spring.

You mean like Reagan and Bush's National debt, tax cuts for the rich and deregulation that caused the world financial crisis?
I think it was a decision if he wanted to win reelection. Politicians are more prone to that than decisions involving consience.
