Thread: John Frame and Michael Horton

Has anyone been following the recent dust-up between John Frame and Michael Horton? Frame posted a review of Horton's book Christless Christianity ( http://www.frame-poythres..._articles/2009Horton.h tm ) and the White Horse Inn responded ( http://www.whitehorseinn.org/archives/166.html ). I was wondering what people on this forum thought about the issue.

Though I have not read Frame's review (the link above is presently down) of Horton's Christless Christianity , I certainly did not like the book. First, I considered Horton over-generalizing. His general thesis seemed to be either that evangelicalism is in sad shape and getting worse and at other times completely Christless (as the title implies). Which is it? Of course, I work for...

For someone who holds himself out as one who speaks the truth in love without being contentious, Frame soils himself with this: When Horton confesses on 117, "…I am not an exemplary creature," he perhaps unintentionally disqualifies himself for church office.

Well the link came up almost as soon as I posted above. I would agree with most of what Frame wrote and he said it better than I ever could. I probably would not have defended Joel Osteen to the extent he did, but then again I would need to ask Horton why he choose Osteen as representative of "the Church." Deins, I would also probably agree with you on Frame's statement, "he perhaps ...

Well the link came up almost as soon as I posted above. I would agree with most of what Frame wrote and he said it better than I ever could.
