Thread: John Fogerty/Mark Goodman

Started 2 months ago by blevins1491
John Fogerty is performing a PBS By Request special tonight, hosted by 80's channel "personality" Mark Goodman. Maybe I can call in and ask Goodman why his 80's channel plays only 1 of Fogerty's 4 hits from the decade. They play "Centerfield" about twice a month. Where are the others? Maybe Goodman should host a Howard Jones special, since that superstar's songs get played ...

Maybe Mark thinks John Fogerty is just an "old man down the road"?

I watched that special. Schmucks would call in and ask Fogerty to do Proud Mary and Bad Moon Rising. Nothing obscure, no album tracks, nothing that's seldom played anymore, just the same fershlugginer hits that we've heard every day for four decades! I can hardly wait for a similar show with Van Morrison so somebody can ask him to sing Brown Eyed Girl.

I have a good feeling those "request" calls are screened...much like the ones that sometimes air on the 60's channel. I'd say Fogerty and his people let the producers know which songs he would still play (or remember) and which ones he would not.

Well, even if you are tired of a song, it's quite another thing to hear it done live by the original artist. . . I should give Springsteen more credit. He seems to be running through an entire album at each concert stop this time: "Born to Run" in D.C., "The River" in NYC. He and the E Street Band probably DO know his entire catalog to pull out at any moment.
