Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by United Airline
Where do they fly their B 747-400s to? I mean long haul. JL : NRT - JFK , NRT - YVR ??? What about GRU and LHR ? NH : NRT - CDG , NRT - FRA ? Will they be back on routes like NRT - SFO , NRT - LAX some day?

United Airline, I know for sure that NH changed NRT - FRA to daily B77W since September 1, 2009. For CDG it's a mix of B744 and B77W. For JL I can't tell. Chris

Quoting Airbuseric ( Reply 2 ): JAL: NRT - ORD (mix with B77W) NRT - YVR - MEX NRT - HKG NRT - ORD has been all 77W since October 25. MEX service ends January 18. One of JL 's 2 daily NRT - HKG flights is being downgraded from 744 to 763 effective January 12.

Quoting United Airline ( Thread starter ): NRT - SFO , NRT - LAX Very unlikely. Besides, they just went B77W starting this year if I am not mistaken.

what about BKK ? JL used to fly 747 to BKK at least when I was there a few months ago (June)... Did they change that as well?

747-400 is yesterdays plane. More and more carriers are replacing them. The type is no spring chicken having been in service now for some 21 years.

Hopefully the B 747-8 and the A 380 will continue to embrace the skies with large orders. And of course the new Y1 double decker B 747 replacement

NH is down to three 744s. Two are used on the NRT - CDG and another for charter work/spare. When additional 77Ws arrive, that's it for the 744s. Though the 744Ds will continue to fly until Boeing gets act together with the 787.
