Where do they fly their B 747-400s to? I mean long haul.
JL : NRT - JFK , NRT - YVR ??? What about GRU and LHR ?
NH : NRT - CDG , NRT - FRA ?
Will they be back on routes like NRT - SFO , NRT - LAX some day?
United Airline,
I know for sure that NH changed NRT - FRA to daily B77W since September 1, 2009. For CDG it's a mix of B744 and B77W.
For JL I can't tell.
Chris
JAL:
NRT - JFK - GRU
NRT - ORD (mix with B77W)
NRT - FCO
NRT - MXP
NRT - HNL
KIX - HNL
NRT - YVR - MEX
NRT - HKG
NRT - ICN
HND - GMP
+ some international B744's do domestic runs,
+ they are used at a minimum at this moment,
1 is undergoing conversion to converted freighter (BCF type): JA8072
+ some are used for seasonal charters, now to Canada...
Quoting Airbuseric ( Reply 2 ): JAL:

NRT - YVR - MEX
NRT - HKG
NRT - ORD has been all 77W since October 25.
MEX service ends January 18.
One of JL 's 2 daily NRT - HKG flights is being downgraded from 744 to 763 effective January 12.
Quoting Airbuseric ( Reply 6 ): One more by B744 is NRT - DPS , daily flight.
I believe you missed NGO - HNL as well. I watch this bird take off on some evenings.
Quoting United Airline ( Thread starter ): NRT - SFO , NRT - LAX
Very unlikely. Besides, they just went B77W starting this year if I am not mistaken.
I further checked, JL B744's currently also operates: NRT - SIN (JL711/712) NRT - TPE (JL641/648) NRT - BKK (JL707/708) + charters to Middle East ( JED ) are routed through BKK also. NRT -GUM (operated by JO ) So, all routes are mentioned now in the topic.

NH is down to three 744s. Two are used on the NRT - CDG and another for charter work/spare. When additional 77Ws arrive, that's it for the 744s. Though the 744Ds will continue to fly until Boeing gets act together with the 787.
