Thread: Issues with getting OS9 onto my Powermac G4

I bought a quicksilver powermac G4 the other day to run OS9. It had a clean install of 10.4 on it and no matter what I do it will not boot from my OS 9.2.1 disc. I've tried holding "C" when booting, holding "Option" when booting and selecting the CD from the boot menu, and going to system preferences > startup disk and selecting the CD as the startup disc. Nothing has worked....

The amount of cache on your 733 MHz processor identifies it as the "bottom of the line" Quicksilver. The 733 in the Digital Audio has much more. So does that mean that I can run 9.2.1 and older on it, or do I need 9.2.2? Quicksilver G4 Mac OS 9.2.x...

Hi, Crossett - Your QS/733 is one of the original QS models; it is not a QS (2002) model. This means it can use OS 9.2.1, but only from a retail OS 9.2.1 Install CD (i.e., not using a model-specific disk). G4/500; G4/733; various OS's...
