Thread: Is the iMac Quad Core i7 faster than the 2008 Octo-Core Mac Pro?
Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by DaSal
So the older Mac Pro's from 2008 have 2 2.8ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon processors, without hyperthreading, for a total of 8 cores, and the top of the line iMac has a Quar Core i7 2,8ghz with hyperthreading for a total of 8 (virtual) cores.
With the ghz being the same but less "real" cores, but probably newer CPU architecture, which CPU will actually be faster?

You just need to set it to auto log in, go to System Preferences and then Users. In the Users window select the options box and select auto log in.

Auto login is a nice thing, but the nature of user accounts in OS X is the main reason the operating system is so secure. Remove password prompts, and you'd have an unusable machine.

You don't have to remove the password from OSX to have it auto log in either.
I would put the password back and setup auto login.

Nope, much to my disgust! I'm very happy with SL, partly because it only cost £30. I again tried closing all apps, unplugging everything, and reducing sleep til 1 min, but no deep sleep!...

Hi mattcooper,
Ok.. friend. I have the same problem. I have tried a lot to solve the problem but I couldn't get the appropriate results. I have also write about it in my post on the Internet but still I haven't the solution of this problem. Whenever you find it, please tell me first.

Well if that doesn't beat all! One thing I'd check is your cables to see if one of them (power, USB) is the culprit. Perhaps you could swap them out one by one to see if that isolates it. Other than that, I'd ...

You are not a basic user so all extra power is appreciated.

I find it extremely hard to believe that an Apple employee told you that, but maybe you ran into a sour apple. Either way, do not worry, Apple will fix and/or replace your computer as long as you are under Applecare. Guaranteed. Bryan

feel sorry for you , but it was something to expect from a early g5 iMac why did you not take the repair offer back then as apple offered it as extended warranty around 2006/7 because of the bad cap problem which (yours is 5 years old) the iMac g5 had back then (logic boards produced between 2003 and late 2004 which had been fitted up to early 2005 and its only a matter of time the bad caps start leaking some sooner some later, but bulging is...
I thought the 27" was a little big for the first day or so after I received it. Now I think it is great. I think I could go a little bigger without any issue.
