Well this morning at 8.30am DD1 will be having her hearing test. I think she might have some issues wither her ears as she is very far behind in speech and the mchccn agrees. Has anyone been through this before? My DD1 will be 3 in Jan so what do I expect them to do with her? It's going to be interesting to say the least. What has been your outcome? If there ...

As a new mum myself, I understand how you feel. I am also an audiologist so, while you've already gone for the test I will just give you a little infomation just in case it is helpful or someone else who is going through the same thing finds it useful. At the age of three children are usually tested with a behavorial test called Play audiometry which makes the test fun (usually) for the child. ...

Hi, We live in Robina and my 3 and half year old son has verbal dyspraxia. Wondering if there is anyone who would interested in playdates or a support group? My number is 0400795313. Its very frustrating for him and us and it would be good to meet someone in a similar position. Linda

Hi there Linda, FYI I am sure a mod will take your number off your post as they discourage having it publicly displayed (should Private msg personal info & meet up times/dates etc) My son is 22 months and his ST suspects dyspraxia or some kind of speech disorder.. he was a later walker (18 mnths), has low muscle tone, does not/can not chew his food (doesnt seem to know how to control his ...

In our 2009 Feb mums chat thread, many have been mentioning bubs first word (either mum or dada) over the past month (which is pretty much the six month mark). My little one has even been repeating the occasional other word (yes, better, I love you, hello). She will say something new, try it out a few times, then move onto something else the next day.

Hi, my son has just turned 6months. This morning i was sending an email from my phone when he said 'mum', I was socked!! i said mum back to him and he replyed 'mum, mum. i have been doing words since 8weeks dont know if that has had an impact. I have only been trying 2 get him 2 say mum for tha last 4days. This mum sound is different to the 'mamama sound he has been making since 10weeks. i ...

My DS started saying 'Mum' by 6 months and 'Dad' was followed not long after So definately possible

MothersMilk replied 3 months ago
Sure - i think DD was about 7 months when she started saying 'mum'.

jembelina replied 3 months ago
Definately possible, although I wouldn't have believed so before having dd! She recently started saying 'ta' and 'dad'....there has been one or two 'mums' but not sure if they were the real thing or not! You can tell if they are just making a sound or saying a word when you can see an association - like my dd only says 'ta' if she wants something and she will put her hand out to it at the same ...

Tummy time - Page 2 - Bub Hub...

Nathan is almost 5 months and isn't too fond of tummy time. He also face-plants and brings up his milk (the last few days he's been using his hands/arms to push up a bit) I put him on his tummy frequently throughout the day for short periods of times. Not sure how a baby's development would go without it. My other kids didn't have much tummy time and they're fine.

What age were your children when they could walk independently or next to a pram for a 10-15 minute walk?

Ooh, binoculars, that's a good idea! We went to bunnings today and bought some paintbrushes in different sizes, and a little paint roller. (no paint yet! haha! but thought we'd start with just playing with water!). And some coloured paddlepop sticks, a mini dustpan and brush, and a really big one so she can use the broom (couldn't find a kids sized broom otherwise). She's loving the broom! We also started with some...

Can I please stress again that regression in speech is not normal and it needs to be adressed imiidiately with a qualified paed. If you are in Brisbane there is a great Paed Dr Davoren at North West Private. Please don't sit on it because diagnosis and help don't come instantly when you realise something is up we have been at it for 4 months now and have still yet to start early intervention. With issues like this the sooner you get...
