60gb and have never had a problem leaving my games or movies in. But come to think about it if my console YLOD I would be pissed. I think that I am going to be taking them out from now on.

someone says it keep the lens clean if you keep a CD/DVD/HD DVD/ BLU-RAY in it [ dont ask for links it was an old thread ]  

I used to in my PS1, PS2, PSP, and my other console, but I don't sooo much in my 60GB........I guess you can look at it this way u leave a CD in your CD player in your car all the time so I'm sure its ok if you leave one in your PS3  

in the slim the new drive constantly spins. even though your not playing it. so now since i switched to slim i take the disc out immediately after i am done playing the game or movie. the old fatty you can leave it in there though. the only times those spin are when you hover over the icon and when you play the disc. so it's your decision to make. choose wisely lol.
