if you're in an "honestly paying" niche (cpc > $0.1), with a good ad placement (ctr > 5%) then if you can reach half a million ad impressions per month you'll have a very good income that is enough to live on, make savings and always better than having to go to work for some boss or for direct customers.

One major benefit with getting into Affiliate Marketing is when you put in efforts on content development and site promotion on your site and blogs there is always a cummulation that provides a revenue stream for years to come unlike a regular service job where you get paid for your services once at end of the month.
