Thread: Is anyone else disinterested in this show now that...

They completely destroyed Locke's character in every way imaginable? It may sound a little selfish, but when you take Locke out of the picture, I don't care much about this show, anymore than any other shows on TV. Now I hate the writers for what they've done. Some evil imposter Locke is just embarrassing and worthless. Especially for a once historically great TV character. ~Dear diary, why ...

As Jack said to Richard during 'The Incident', "I wouldn't give up on him." I'm positive they haven't completely abandoned the real Locke. He will come back and will eventually realise his fate as the island's true saviour. The True Hero Of 'LOST': http://tiny.cc/cdaML

Locke is my favorite character, but I'm not going to stop watching just because he is temporarily dead. Unbent. Unbowed. Unbroken.

He is not temporarily dead, he is dead, dead as a bald doornail. His character was revealed to be a pathetic easily manipulated fool through his entire life. When you look at all the flashbacks for John you can see the writers planned it. The only reason he was in any way special was that he was chosen to be a key pawn by MIB. When you watch back over the previous seasons you can see that he ...

"And when Jack said the line "don't give up on him" it was not to hint that Locke would return, it was to make it even more shocking and sad when moments later it is revealed that not only was Locke wrong about everything and is a complete nobody, but Jack telling Richard not to give up on him helped MIB to bring about his end game." Is that a fact? Is that what you had in mind when you wrote ...

brbbkr, that was a brilliant post on Locke. Early on, I was a Locke fan, sympathizing with his plight, and his daddy issues, but when they got down into the hatch is when I started feeling different about him, and the point you made about how he tried to answer Desmond's question "are u him"?, is one of the reasons I stopped liking him. Not only that, he would continously get OWNED by Ben. I ...

If Charlie, Boone, and Faraday is still alive, then Locke is too. No goats, no glory.

John Locke is a great character. John Locke is my second favorite character. John Locke has one of the best story arcs to ever come out of network television. All that said, I do hope that the writers don't have a literal resurrection in store for him. Jack has essentially transformed into the new Locke; he's finally become a man of faith, and now he has to play the role Jacob chose him for. ...

BAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW I MISS THAT THE SHOW IS NO LONGER DEDICATED TO A MARY SUE, AND THAT OTHER CHARACTERS ARE NOW RELEVANT TO THE MYTHOLOGY AFTER FIVE SEASONS Fix'd. Also, brbbrkr, you summed up my whole opinion on Locke. Interesting character, but that was all due to his flaws. The revelation that he is a pawn is one of the greatest twists the writers have conceived. I think some of ...

How can people believe that Locke is/was only important to be manipulated by MIB? That holds no weight whatsoever. Let's think about it: He only really needed Locke to die. That's it. He needed him to die so he could use the body/appearance to kill Jacob. It has nothing to do with him being easily manipulated, because he manipulated him, yes. But in the end he just needed him to die.

seeing Jack finally turn into a man of faith and believe all that Locke told him has to be one of the best transformations on the show. Thinking about it is so touching and makes it feel like the real Locke is still there :)

The writers had confirmed that Jacob did actually exist. But within the show itself there were...

Do you mean that, due to the time-jumping, we may have seen Flocke at some point between Seasons 1-4 and presumed it was Locke? The True Hero Of 'LOST': http://tiny.cc/cdaML

*Smokey and Flocke are part of MIB The monster's connection to either Jacob or Man #2 is pure speculation at this point.

Locke is exactly the same character we saw in his flashbacks. Just because he didn't turn out how you expected him to based on your impression of him after arriving on the Island doesn't mean his character was ruined. In fact, if he had been completely different from himself in his flashbacks, that would have ruined him. As what's the point of the flashbacks, if not to show us what made the characters who they are at this...

If you want to believe it's that easy to manipulate people, that's entirely upto you. However as we've seen, it's a much more subtle thing when it comes to the characters on this show. No you misunderstood. I'm saying he didn't manipulate him the entire time. He cured his paralysis, yes, but there's no way he could have seen what Locke was going to do because of that for 65 days or whatever. This is assuming...

I suspect FLOCKE Smokey & MIB or whatever the combination of these things are have been seen in seasons 1-4. Locke always walks out of the jungle at the right time to talk to the right person, After season 5 I'm not assuming its always been Locke. I suspect the Locke vs Flocke debate may appear a few times after the series is over? I need to stop making up rumors, some of them are true!

His storyline is equally good to me in every season, except 4. I didnt like him much in that season, but then again there is always one point where I get annoyed with a character I like.
