Started 1 week, 3 days ago by Mack5
my buddy and I were thinking about going somewhere in the USVI and have heard awesome things about SJ. I was just wondering if we're gonna find it all honeymooners or retired people with super quiet evenings. we are in our late 30's and are NOT looking for the cancun party scene. what we are looking for is great beaches, good snorkeling, good food and some nightlife. Ive been to Grand ...
St John is NOT all honeymooners or retired people. Since it's 2/3 National Park, it attracts many active vacationers of all ages.
There aren't any all inclusives in St John, because most people prefer a do-it-yourself vacation, rent a car, and get out and explore the many beaches and restaurants. There are only 2 large hotels - Caneel Bay and Westin, so there's no huge ...
We have all types of visitors on St. John. I think you and your buddy would have a great time here based on what you say you like. We don't have a huge nightlife, but there is stuff to do. During season we have a lot more bands and live music. People tend to do the "crawl" from bar to bar. We do have one place with dancing, Crazy Cracker's. You can find dancing other places, but this is...
Mack,
St John is a great place. I have been going since 1991. Several girls vacations in there and always have a wonderful time. Love introducing newbies to the laid back beautiful island. Everyone falls in love with the island. St John doesn't have much nightlife (everything is pretty muched closed by 11PM) , but that has never been an issue. After an evening in town we ...
Check out the website www.seestjohn.com It is very comprehensive and updated daily....right down to which restaurants and bars have live music and when...
Two guys could absolutely have a great time on St. John!
Oh, and you guys sound like you might enjoy a day trip to Jost van Dyke. Foxxys restaurant and bar are legendary, and the Soggy Dollar Bar is awesome, too! It's a short ferry trip away and a blast, but you would need your Passports since Jost is in the BVI's.
We bring singles to St. John and they have a blast. There are late night spots that we frequent like Quiet Mon and Jakes, but we tend to get on an earlier schedule with mornings at the beach. There's a lot to do, so if you like lounging on the beach or being active you won't run out of things. If you want to do more partying I'd think about staying closer town; check out Star Villas and...
wow, you guys are great!!! THANKS FOR ALL THE KIND REPLIES!!! I will take your recommendations seriously and hopefully be able to make this trip happen. THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE!

I think you'd have a nice time on STJ. But, if it were me, I'd go to Maui instead. It has everything you're looking for, with better nightlife (Not cancun style) and more singles. Lahaina will treat you and your buddy right.
Trust me. You'll end up kicking yourselves for not having gotten to StJ sooner. It's totally NOT (Americanized) Cancun . We've spent very little time over on the Cruz Bay side and prefer hanging out around the Coral Bay area bars when we're in a socializing mood. Otherwise, we hike and explore, beach, beach, beach, hike, eat and suck down our own Painkillers and Bushwackers that we ...
St. John is great for any two friends or three friends or more to visit. What most people love about it is the very laid back style of the island with no pushy touristy elements or places, and darnit, we means to keep it that way! It is so laid back that some visitors have probably mistaken that attitude to be disinterest or aloofness. The nice thing is, you won't get people following ...
