Thread: Is Muntz REALLY a villain?

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by frostfruit
After Muntz sees Frederickson trying to hide the birds whereabouts, he starts talking about how other visitors( the bandits ) told interesting stories of themselves. He includes Frederickson's story which implies that Muntz thought Frederickson was also a bandit who was trying to steal the bird for himself. No, the thing that made him a villain was that he was paranoid about anyone that came, convinced himself that they were trying to steal the bird, and killed them. Those people were telling the truth, they weren't 'interesting stories', they weren't bothered about the bird. Well, I'm willing to bet most of them weren't, at least. I doubt he would have listened to reason.

Add to that the fact that he's probably been living alone for so long, and the dogs are the...

The thing that made Muntz a villain wasn't accusations. It was the obsession about the bird. What separates Fredricksen from Muntz is a thin line. Fredricksen almost became a villain when he chose a house (It's just a house) over a person (Russell) but he later on realized his mistake. Muntz never realized his mistake, so over the years all his dreams became fossils (hence the fossil filled ...
