I had the same problem with a Dell Optiplex 330. I received the
STOP 0x0000007B(0xF78DA63C,0x0000034,0X x0000000,0x0000000 error message if I booted with Windows XP. I resolved the issue by the following actions
1. On start up (Dell logo), press F2 to enter BIOS
2. Expand the "Drives" section
3. Go to "SATA Operation"
4. Change this from "RAID Auto/AHCI" to "RAID...

Keep in mind that changing this from "RAID Auto/AHCI" to "RAID Auto/ATA" will turn off the high-performance features of the controller and put it into compatibility mode.
I have also experienced this exact same issue on the Dell Optiplex 745 and 755 systems.
Now I am seeing a similar issue on the new Dell Latitude E6400. However, the BIOS options have changed slightly. The E series laptop default setting is listed under "SATA Operation" and is set to "IRRT" but needs to be set to "ATA" for a VL copy of XP to install without the above BSOD.

I tried using nlite without any luck...maybe i'm just using it incorrectly. I was told to rip a copy of XP onto my HD then use nlite to insert the SATA driver into the drivers and then burn it to disc. Is there a correct way to rip XP to the HD? I feel like when i do and make a copy I get this...missing ntldr? Also which driver is needed? x64 or x86? I tried both neither worked. I think it's because I am missing something from XP...
Yeah, XP SP3 was on the CD already (which didn't work). I copied the entire CD to a map on my PC and downloaded Nlite. Only thing you have to do is ''next'' until you come at adding drivers. I added SATA driver and burned it. Thing I forgot was adding motherboard drivers - so I did not have internet :| Luckily we have 2 computers so I went there to download.
Jezzeh, Glad it helped. You may also want to slipstream XP SP3 into your install CD and any other drivers (I added the missing one for my USB floppy also) into the installation CD.
I have a problem installing Xp in Dell Studio15 laptop. The same Blue screen Problem. i didnt find ATA in BIOS configuaration. I hope that helps anyone else. where is this advanced tab, i'm working on a hp pavilion also and there is nothing like that in bios.
