Thread: Installed NY trigger and now I can't field strip G19

Started 1 month ago by db220
I have a second gen G19. I am familiar with detail stripping and have installed after marker parts and trigger parts. Tonight I dropped in a #1 NY trigger. After reassembling the pistol the trigger doesn't break. The problem is that now I can't field strip the pistol to find out what went wrong. Even if I hold the trigger back and hold down the slide lock it will not disengage the slide....

You can still get the gun disassembled, even if the trigger will not release. Lock the slide to the rear, reach in with your 3/32" tool and compress the black plastic striker sleeve, remove the backplate, remove the striker/sleeve/spring assembly. Same as detail stripping the slide, but with the slide still on the lower. With the striker assembly out, you can then remove the slide from the ...

Squeeze the trigger slightly as you're pulling the slide off. The ny spring exerts more upwards force on the underside of the cruciform. As you pull the trigger all the way to the rear, it allows the striker lug to step over the rear edge of the cruciform.

I predict that in 5...4...2...3...1 DScott will be here telling you that you should have had a Glock Armorer do it. Can't really say I disagree with him though.

Did you remove the old standard coil spring as you should have or did you combine it with the NY1? Perhaps you seated the NY1 backwards. Did you mess with the connector? Glocks may be simple to take apart, but they must be reassembled correctly.

I have tried the NY trigger springs - I would never leave my hosue with one of those POSs in my gun. The supposed "revolver-like" trigger pull is a legend started by some gun magazine retard who had never shot a revolver...not even a toy one. The problem you are having is that it is pushing up so hard on your trigger bar that it no longer slips under the lug of the striger. You might not have ...

I did polish up the trigger parts, but I didn't use anything abrasive. If I can smooth metal with felt then I guess it's possible, but I doubt it. I think there's something wrong with the NY spring. I can use any other combination of springs and connectors and it works exactly how it should. A lighter connector gives me a lighter pull, springs work the same way, just like they should, lighter or heavier. Only when I put the NY...

The real case for the NY trigger spring, is that it supposedly remedies the "achilles heel" of the Glock, which is of course the coil trigger spring. I tried to like the NY1, but couldnt warm up to it. You'll also notice that after awhile it tends to cause the striker lug to rough up the rear of the cruciform, which can and will cause a negative effect at the point where the striker releases from the lug(trigger break).
