This is from another board I post on, and I think it's wonderful advice- advice that I strongly suggest following. I think women need to understand how important the PP period is.
Bedrest instructions
Days 1-5
Stay in bed. You should only get up to empty your bladder. You have done the greatest work a person can do, allow yourself time to recover and get to enjoy your baby.
Day 5-7
...
This is great, Candice--thank you!
When I started reading it, I thought it was about the first post-partum menstrual period, though--and I was like, wow... five days in bed? And then continued bed rest?
HOW LONG CAN THIS PERIOD LAST???
-- Andrea in New Mexico is going to bed now.

There is nothing to be scared of! Remember, this is what our bodies were created to do! It's the most natural thing in the world Have you watched the Business of Being Born? If not I really highly recommend you do. You can get it on netflix and I think there are placed online you can watch it.
I also highly suggest reading Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth. It's an awesome, powerful ...
Thank you. My Mum gave me a couple of books on childbirth and the first month after, one is for C section and the other for natural. I can't bring myself to read them yet. Maybe later.
That was an awesome post, Candice!
I think women forget that recovery does not end when you leave the hospital. It's so, so important to have plans in place to allow yourself to recover after going home. I'll have my mom around the do the cooking, and my husband around to take care of me. Something along those lines is ideal, IMO (if your mom drives you crazy, maybe another female relative ...
Awesome post! When my mom is here, she STILL encourages me to spend much of my time in bed and nursing baby. I'm 9 weeks PP!
But I completely agree- moms need time to be with their babies, nothing else...

I'm jealous. My mother was NOT understanding and was on my back...

Honestly, the *only* good thing about having a c-section was that people didn't expect me to do as much. DH has been AWESOME. He still cooks dinner every night, and works from home as much as possible.
Okay, am I the only one not familiar with the miracle blanket? Off to Google... Ah, I see now. The one I want is out of stock, but I have plenty of time. I am definitely going to order one!

WOW. This hit me like a ton of bricks! I didn't do any of this stuff! I was up and walking around and cleaning and changing diapers and seeing visitors! No wonder I felt so crappy! The pressure to "get back to normal" was coming from just about everywhere, especially from within. I didn't quite realize how much recovery I'd need.
