Thread: I'm starting to re-think Rio and the Olympics

i was against Chicago because horrible people live there and the crime is out of control but maybe it's not as bad as Rio after all did the Olympic Committee make a mistake? http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N17300925 .htm shooting down helicopters is a whole different level of crime from beating a kid to death

Too late. It's all your fault too. You should be forced to attend, and only get tickets to the really bad events, like steeplechase.

nah....Rio will be all cleaned up like 4 months prior to Opening Ceremonies. They did it with Athens in 2004. In a few months, our Feds came in and shut down Greece's notorious terrorist group, "November 17th", which had been eluding capture for years and years. Rio will be like disney, if only for a few weeks. Btw- i attended a beach volleyball game in '04 and had one of the best times...

They'll make a Wire-like deal where they herd all the crime syndicates into a certain area in Rio and tell them they can basically rape, pillage, and kill as long as it's in that area, without consequences as long as they stay away from anything involving the Olympics.

There was a piece on 60 Minutes Sunday night about cyber terror and how many times our own systems have been hacked or probed.They cited 2 or 3 instances where the Brazilian power grid had been hacked causing wide spread black outs that lasted for days.
