Defiantly a 360. if you look over the years theve been out they have stayed the same price(showing good pricing and not a dieing off product) also ps3 are copy of most of what xbox live was started with. also the controller for a ps hasn't changed from the first garbage one.
A new game console? Then get the 360. It has far better online modes and has better features for gaming (such as being able to send voice messages to friends, play your own music as the background music, insane online modes, etc.).
If you want to play Blu-Rays, then get the PS3. The PS3 is still great for gaming, but the 360 just offers more to it.

Is it backwards compatible (does it play PS2 games)? - The original PS3 does, and the PS3 slim doesn't.
Does it play CD's and DVD's? - Yes
Does it Play Blu-Ray's? - Yes
How much does it cost to play online? - Nothing, on-line is FREE.
How much space does its hard drive have? - ...
If you're really into online gaming, I'd go with the 360. If you're really into RPG's, I'd say PS3. But if you're looking for overall fun, I'd go with the Wii.
