Thread: I'm driving myself crazy trying to find permanent happiness, what do i do? help? - Yahoo! Answers

i always feel i can find permanent happiness within myself. But nothing is happening and i think this has become an obsession. i'm 23 and want to move on with my life and stop obsessing about this "happiness search", what should i do?

you could try finding another hobby or reading more about psychology. not just the quest for happiness, but other aspects, such as personality theory, that will help you understand yourself and others better. also, perhaps you should try being less self-focused. if you stare at anything too long it tends to become distorted, you know? so you quest for happiness has probably led you inwards, with ...

There is no such thing as permanent happiness, however there is something called "being content", try to learn to be content in what you do and how you feel then each day you will come closer to feeling "happy"

I think that happiness is something American society says you "should" achieve and then there are all these "things" and accomplishments we are supposed to amass in order to become happy. The irony is that you end up feeling like something is wrong with you because once you amass all that society says you're supposed to have you're still not "happy." Happpiness is intangible. I think first you need to understand that there is no such thing as permanent happiness. Things in life will cause heartache, and sadness. For example you may lose a loved one, someone close will fall ill. I think you need to change your mind set and know that things that will cause you some pain and sadness will happen, but by having a good attitude about life will help you get through the ...

Happiness is never permanent, and if you try to get permanent happiness, you will be frustrated. You WILL go crazy. Everyone has their ups and downs. Another curious thing about happiness is that when people seek happiness, it eludes them. The more a person tries to be happy, the unhappier they become. Wanting something constantly does not allow for it to HAPPEN. If you only hold the desire for happiness there is no space in the mind for actual happiness. Manifesting anything is kind of run in the following sequence: Want/desire=clarity of what it is that is wanted/be as CLEAR as you can be with your idea of what you want.=maintain a period of holding in this thought pattern as you ...
