That our countries health care was passed by 5 votes.

220 yay 215 nah, and that's considered passed.

That's sickening to me. How ridiculous is this whole thing.

Sorry, but huh?

Not to be obnoxious...you're disgusted and sickened that something that got more votes, passed? I don't understand.

JAYBIRD79 replied 1 month ago
The House of Representatives passed Obama's Health Care Bill. The vote was 220 Yes votes to 215 No votes. One would think you'd need a bigger margin than 5 votes. I guess I can hope for miracles in the Senate, but I'm doubtful at this point.

I think thats called democracy...

EASYGOER89 replied 1 month ago
yeah, I don't get it. I understand disagreeing with the bill itself. Objecting to using 'simple majority' as the defining line to pass something I can't understand. More people wanted it than didn't.

SWEETSSD replied 1 month ago
In a parliamentary democracy like here and Britain - entire governments can form and fall with a difference of one vote. Suck it up Buttercup... :)

JAYBIRD79 replied 1 month ago
I don't think if you took a majority vote of the people that more people wanted it vs not wanted it. That, and yes I'm a bit over dramatic, but this bill will be an almost 90% chance that my DH loses his job, and then we're screwed a million ways. So yeah I'm annoyed.

Okay that's my big issue with the whole thing, to have 2 of us out of work will be devastating to my family. I've been working my rear end off looking for a job for 7 months and have found NOTHING. I've been on a total of 4 interviews in 7 months. I'm nervous, I'm scared, and I'm peeved at the House.

SWEETSSD replied 1 month ago
I think they were looking at a bigger picture than that Jaybird.....just saying. On the bright side though - you may still get health coverage when you are both unemployed and destitute.

SKL, I think you are referring to someone else. I have not been offered any full time jobs anytime in the last 7 months. If I had, I would have jumped at the opportunity. Thanks again.

And another thing - why is it outrageous for a Bill to pass by a legal margin, but ideal that reform come from "courts" (just a few guys)??

I wasn't asking you to 'go anywhere' with me at all. It's ALL in YOUR very own posts.

What was said right off the bat was "I believe the people that are "screwed a million ways now" are that way by their own fault." It's really comforting and convenient to believe that anyone who is worse off than you are is just dumber.

it isn't about just truly disabled, it is about the working class who cannot afford healthcare. Premiums are more than monthly housing costs. Ins cos turn down everyone who isn't healthy and profitable. And that leaves a huge gap for good, hardworking people to fall in to.

So when your husband gets laid off and you are both unemployed and have no insurance through your employer.... (IRONY!) does that mean you are stupid? or the government is stupid? Are you drinking tonight?

KK, Im pretty darn liberal and I think Cash for Clunkers was a waste of money, too. We do some stupid stuff in this country. I dont think this healthcare business is one of them, though. I keep having to hit cancel on what I want to say to OP, but I will say you sound like Rush or some of the other garbage on the radio. Lots of bark, no substance to back it up.

Why, the insurance industry, of course! They've done such a great job so far.

If they took advantage of it, that means they must have liked it.
