Thread: If Pacquiao happens to lose to Cotto in Boxing in HBO Community Home

Started 3 months, 1 week ago by Host_Steve
Do you think a Pacquiao loss will hurt boxing? I was just thinking that it would probably be a negative in the sport. If you look at how much attention his fight against De La Hoya and Hatton brought and how Pacquiao is looked at as the P4P best right now. A loss to Cotto might derail the momentum created in the sport. I could be wrong but I'd like to know what the board thinks.

I think if either Pacquaio or Mayweather loses their upcoming fights, it will derail the momentum boxing has going right now. I hav several friends that are casual boxing fans and all they are talking about is a Mayweather-Pacquaio. If either loses, that fight won't happend at the biggest possible moment. For hardcore fans, it won't matter. But for the mainsteam media and casual fans, it will...

I agree with that exactly. Everyone is clamoring for a Pacquiao Mayweather superfight. This is also why I don't see Mayweather taking Marquez lightly, the prospects for one of the biggest if not the biggest PPVs in history is in that fight. My fear is Pacquiao might not hold up his end of the deal if he's not focused. I like Cotto and Marquez very much but I want to see Mayweather vs Pacquiao...

Most people in my area only know Mayweather and Pacquiao right now. They all want to see a super-fight between the 2.......... they've never heard of Cotto of JMM....... so yes, boxing will take a decent hit if either loses.

That's a very good question, to me the real question is: Will Mayweather jr even fight Cotto if it comes to that? A lot of people thought that he retired to avoid getting in the ring with Cotto. Now that Cotto has been defeated maybe he isn't that daunting a foe? I see a very real chance that Mayeather loses this fight. Marquez is a real craftsman in the ring. He can throw good ...

So many blokes make Cotto out to be the "bigger" man, but when the numbers are observed, Cotto is only 1.5 cm taller and both have identical reach. Cotto perhaps carries slightly more weight above the waist, but it is the strength and quickness of Pacquiao's legs that set him apart and will be a big factor in Pacquiao's win over Cotto. Surely, Cotto has fought at higher weights for longer than ...

Based on Manny's recent fights, it's punching power and speed that count and not the size.

Yoh Guys!! Cotto is Great BUT I THINK Manny will finish him in 6 rounds. I always reply the Hatton / Pacman Fight and I realized no Boxer can sustain that kind power shot that PACMAN have.. I a little bit concerned of what happen to Cotto after the fights

I went for Cotto and I was wrong, Pacquiao is a damn good fighter-he's reall good. Cotto looked like all the steam was gone from his punches in round 5. Pac gave him ribbs and Cotto was hesitant-guess he doesn't like Bar B Q's. Anyway, Pac put on another great performance now it's time for the fight everyone's been waitin for. There's no 1 for Floyd to fight that matters right now. I think any other opponent than...

Good points Hit. Manny gets discredited for his biggest wins. Not sure why that is.

No need to argue... they are similiar and i happen to think mayweather is better.. and trust me i dont like maywaether. just look at the facts... freddie roach said pacquiao didnt lose a round to oscar and hatton... TRUE.. but floyd stopped hatton first and beat oscar at his natural weight.... and marquez had 2close fights with pacquiao, which alot of people thought marquez WON both... and mayweather didnt lose a round to him. just look at the...

Yeah, I see a lot of people talking out their arses around here. Cotto was tough as hell. He did not appear to be a shell of his former self, just the opposite. He has fought well in both of his last two fights. He was just in with very good fighters. Pacquiao is just better than Cotto. It should have been apparent to anyone who considers himself a boxing afficionado. I did not expect Cotto to do so well, and I did not expect Manny to just...

Sometimes I get ahead of myself as well...Let's just hope for a great fight!!!!!Hopefully the winner will fight Mayweather and shut his fan's up afterwards!!!! If Mayweather does not fight the winner of this fight I will swear him up and down to be a paper champ. I really believe that if he doesnt fight the winner it will not be because of him. I think you may find that Cotto or Pacquaio will not be as eager to get in the ring with...
