Thread: Ideas for nurseries

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by cavenyee
I bought a cute cover for kleenex boxes the other day that I was planning to keep in my office. Instead, Sean decided that we should keep it at home, because he thinks it'll look good in a nursery/we could paint the walls to match the box. Cute, right? It's cream, with a brush stroke blue background and butterflies and flowers painted on it. He wants to do everything in cream, and then brush ...

Cute of your husband!  So sweet that he is thinking about it already!  Funny that you posed this question: my SO and I were talking the other day and ended up on this topic.  He thinks he wants to know what we are having and I definitely don't want to know.  So we might have him find out and be in charge of the nursery.  He is really handy, creative, and meticulous and I love his taste, and I ...

Too cute. DF is the opposite of Sean and would freak at flowers in a boys room. We haven't talk in detail about decorating but he wants to paint the room a "warm" neutral as soon as we find out we are PG.

Andrea-- I think that's a great idea!! We (I) don't want to find out, and he's ok with that. I love the idea of letting your SO do the whole thing, and surprising you with it. Would you help pick out the furniture or let him do it all?

Kate-- I'm the one that's iffy on flowers in a boy's room. I'm ok with the cream and blue; flowers could be added later. Warm neutrals are a fantastic idea!! I love it!

Aww, how adorable! That awesome that he suggested it! I have painted the future nursery green already. :-) It's the first room I painted in the new house, I was so excited. We also have bought two cute dinosaur plaques to decorate it, and an owl throw rug and an owl wall hanging. So we already have a pretty good start, especially for being a year or so away from TTC - we just pick things up ...

Liz- I would probably be along for the furniture selection, just because I imagine it will be gender neutral.  I still suspect he will have a better idea of what to put in it because I am hopeless when it comes to such things.  But it will be fun to do that!  I'm glad you don't think it is crazy to have my SO do the room as a surprise! Becki- that's awesome that you already  have your ...

Oh thank you!! Paul loves dinos, and they're gender-neutral. Sure, boys might tend to like them more, but I had a big stuffed dino as a kid that I loved.

Oh I definitely think dinos are gender neutral.  I wasn't so into them, but my sister was obsessed with them!

That is so cute of him! :D For my baby nursery James and I already purchased a convertible crib that is cherry colored wood. We set it up as a toddler bed for the grandson and my niece when they stay over. I have a gender neutral bedding already on it that I could use if I really wanted. Also have a glider rocker that is cherry colored wood as well and dark khaki-ish colored cushions. I...

I just found these fabric reuseable wall stickers! I think they could make Sean's idea work for a boy or girl! http://www.etsy.com/shop/lovemaestore

Molly-- Thanks for the suggestion, but I leave at 6:45 and he gets off at 7:00. We literally don't see each other on days that he works. We've got time to figure it out though.

Great idea to get off the BC early. We tried that, but had a trip in between so I went back on. I was off the BC in July/August Cycle, went back on for 6 weeks and stopped the BC in early October. so I am only on my 2nd cycle, first one started 10/3. I was totally obsessed my first cycle, I have been temping and stuff since then, which is annoying, but I feel like I need to. Thought I was pregnant my first cycle, thought we had good timing...

I live in Southern California and we did a Surf Themed Room for our nursery, we got some Hawaiian bedding from a local vendor who had a surfing print with little stick figures on it! It came out great, I hope my little son grows up to surf just like his dad. My brother, who doesn't?live in Southern California,?decided to his son's nursery in a race car bedding theme which had a fun Nascar type look with little stick figure racing...

Hey Liz!? I just wanted to jump in and share with you that when I used to work nights and DH was working days we would DTD in the shower in the mornings.? I would just be getting home from work and he would be getting ready for work.? It worked really well for us because we hardly ever saw each other some days.? Just a suggestion :-)
