Wait for it.
Lady Gaga.
Now, granted, this is weird. I'm not a fan of pop idols in the least. I hate the culture, I hate the music. But there is something about Lady Gaga. It's not her music. It's her persona. She seems to me to be this wonderfully acute parody of the entire pop music industry, constantly pushing the limit in what people will swallow in terms of music, costume ...
No, I agree. People say she's attention-seeking and fame-hungry, but I think she's parodying people who are attention-seeking and fame-hungry. Her debut album is called The Fame after all. I'll hesitate to call her an 'artist' like Warhol, but I definitely think there's more to her than simply 'pop superstar'.
EDIT: Then again, I thought for a while that Britney's downward spiral was ...

Personally, I think she's nuts. I don't think she is making a statement.
She is completely fruit loops.
Why is it every time I need to get somewhere, we get waylaid by jackassery?
Ahaha Great Post.
Ok. I should be clear in that I hate her music, and I hate her persona. But...in the event that she's staging it all in some grandiose artistic statement...well I just love that. It just proves how ridiculous it is that people will accept this kind of outrageous personality as something with actual merit.
I think the only thing that would give it merit is if she was ...
No, she's not staging it all. If you watch interviews with her, it becomes painfully obvious that you can't fake being THAT stupid. Plus, part of her image is a not-so-brilliant-or-ironic awareness of pop culture/celebrity status.
She's just trying to be another Madonna. I absolutely hate her.
she's nothing like Madonna :P Madonna has always bored me to tears, but regardless of the actual artistic merit of any of Gaga's songs, when I'm at a club and one of hers starts playing...everyone dances. So, *shrug*
Apathy on the rise, no one cares
She definately writes some cathy pop tunes, but IMO shes not brilliant.
A genius (for me anyway) is someone who has done a lot for a particular genre or for the whole of music in general. Experimental artists like Frank Zappa, John Zorn, Mike Patton etc.
He must be under the effect of Lornex97; and Eve, too, presumx97; presumally.

Gaga isn't stupid at all. In fact, you saying that she sounds stupid during her interviews ...
Again, I certainly don't think she's a good musician. I wouldn't say she's a groundbreaking musical genius...
IF she is faking it. I know nothing about her, but IN THE EVENT that she was creating a character to mock the masses, that would be amazing.
Clearly those who know more about her have proved me wrong however, so forget it. But I think that would make for a great pop art performance...
I don't think Lady Gaga is perpetuating some sort of "look" in order to laugh at the music industry. I do think that she understands that the way she dresses is not considered normal, but she also doesn't have any qualms about being something other than normal. She said it herself, during the first years of her career, she was most well known as the "tranny" that played in gay clubs, and even...
LMAO. Yeah, Lady Gaga often spouts ideology that I just can't keep up with! My feeble mind doesn't understand how "Disco Stick" is "art", as Gaga claims! If only I was on her level, maybe I'd appreciate how her *beep* outfits are an expression of her individuality and not just a desperate plea for attention!
As for her look, just go with it...only the homos are really going to appreciate her. Homos have ALL the fun. Oh, great god in heaven, why...WHY did you condemn me to a life of being straight?!?!? *shakes fist at the sky* Fry: I like you, Seymour, you're not constantly judging me like all the other dogs.

Clearly those who know more about her have proved me wrong however, so forget it. But I think that would make for a great pop art performance piece, faking your way outrageously into the music industry. Thats kinda what Marilyn Manson was. But then he got swallowed by his own creation and became what he was illuminating. And yeah, Lady Gaga isnt a parody unfortunately. Apparently shes paying homage to david bowie or something, according to...
