Thread: I saw this movie 20-some-odd years ago...

...when it was called Three Amigos! Both movies follow the same exact storyline - actors who suddenly have to become "real life" heroes. It's been done before. Hollywood really needs to get with the program.

Yeah, but this time they actually made a GOOD movie out of the concept.

To the original post: I thought the exact same thing....till I watched the movie. Tropic Thunder and Three Amigos have only one thing in common....Both were about actors put in a life and death situation. Everything else was way different. And I'm not gonna hate on 'Amigos', cause that movie was funny in it's own right.

That's completely beside the point. We weren't discussing what's financially right in this topic. The original poster was blaming Hollywood for unoriginality because Tropic Thunder has a vaguely similar concept as Three Amigos, and I was merely pointing out that if Hollywood has a problem with unoriginality (and undoubtedly it does), Tropic Thunder is not a part of it. You were talking about what "Hollywood needs to do," which I felt stepped outside of the original poster's intent. If you vote with your ticket money and avoid remakes, etc., then that's admirable. Back to topic...

Don't forget the film crew become real heroes concept was also used in "Galaxy Quest" too!

I really like all those guys, but they've never done anything on this level. Respectfully agree to disagree.
