Thread: I need help with Installing Ram Problem

HI, My friend tried to install 2gb DDR PC3200 rams to her PC, she first installed the new rams,. and the PC turned on... but the new rams did not apply to her PC.. so she then remove the 2 old rams... and reinstall it.. (yes,.. I'm also confused, but that's what happened....) and turn on the PC, and the PC start to beep and Can't turn on PC anymore.. From my knowledge, the beeping sound...

Wrong spec RAM shouldn't fit into the slot. The RAM you linked to are DDR. Is her computer that old? 1. Did she try the old rams back alone? 2. What size were the old RAM? 3. Does the chipset have a maximum RAM size limit? 4. There are usually preferred slots for RAM if you are not fully populating the slots. She should make sure they are in the right slots. yes she unplug the new ones and just boot the system with the 2 old ones, but no effect.. the computer can't turn on and just kept on beeping

size and no of sticks of old memory? She should make sure that she did not disturb any of the power cables and the cpu is well seated

It's probably going over the limit that the mobo allows with all the RAM installed.

It's super common for people that have never installed ram before to have the pc start beeping after they try installing memory. I've noticed there's 2 tricks to doing it. One is that when the ram stick is in place, you'll normally have felt/heard a satisfying click when it locked into position. Secondly, if you have an empty slot of ram and lock the tabs into the closed position, they...
