Johnny's only in the film for about 5 minutes, which is a shame because he's playing a charmer and to me there was a little bit of Jack Sparrow about him. I wish they'd used him more. Anyone else seen it?

It doesn't come to the states until December.

This is unfortunately going to be said about a lot of what he does from now on, I think, for good or bad.

Piss off !
Well there was certainly no Jack Sparrow in Sweeney Todd or Public Enemies, so we all know that Johnny can act without Jack appearing. In Imaginarium it was just that he was being charming to a lady and I just saw Jack there for a moment - others may not agree.

Well he's not one of my favourite actors, and without giving too much of the plot away, he was playing the least attractive side of the Tony character, but he was OK. He had the most screen time compared to Johnny and Jude.

That's good to know. He's been receiving positive buzz actually. I like Colin. He was great in In Bruges. Deserves a supporting actor nom.
It's love, not Santa Claus. - Tom Hansen
I haven't seen it yet, but i've been invited to a special screening taking place in Sydney on Monday October 26 - with a special down-the-line Q&A with Terry Gilliam at the film's conclusion. I'm VERY tempted to attend!
Go take a step outside - see what's shaking in the real world.
It's crazy how much Johnny sounded and looked like Heath. When they were going through the mirror I couldn't tell if that was Johnny or Heath. The 3 Tony's that replaced Heath did an amazing job. It looked like it was part of the script. I must say it was sad when you didn't see Heath appear in later secenes.
Johnny delivered a beautiful speech in the film about how those who die young will live on forever in our memories, it was like a little eulogy for Heath. He said it so beautifully I was in tears. Johnny was my favorite of the Heath substitutes; he was most faithful to the character Heath had created.
The actress in that scene has a line "You are such a beautiful speaker" and it's true, he really did that say that speech beautifully and with feeling. "Life is for the alive my dear, so let's keep living it, just keep living it, really living it!"
I think Depp would have done better in Heath's part too. But I still believe with what little material was given Johnny that he was just okay and nothing spectacular. Amelia - D Precious - A Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - C
Johnny's portrayal of Tony is the most faithful to Heath's Tony character. That is why some people said they weren't sure which actor was playing the character. They even mistook Johnny for Heath, which means Johnny did a great job in portraying Tony the same way Heath did. And that is exactly what I expected from him as a Heath substitute. I agree it is not his most outstanding performance but it is perfect, and that is good...

I don't particularly like him, but I thought he was absolutely magnificent in Parnassus. Easily the best of the three transformations. "Find out what to think next!" -Chris Morris, "Brasseye"

True, Johnny Depp was good in the film, i see what you mean by the 'Jack Sparrow' in him. That said, Heath Ledger adopted the same persona, and i thought he did it as well, if not better, as he had more screen time. God, i'm going to miss him.
