Thread: I can't use my free week thru Interval International...what can I do with
it?
Started 4 months, 1 week ago by tadams
When I bought into the Club over a year ago part of the deal was a free 1BR week through II, just pay exchange fee. Due to work schedules and a new baby, our Hawaii trip was never reserved. I need to book a week and take the trip by 3/16/10.
I called DRI and they said I can book a week and then add someone as a guest so they can use it for $39 fee plus the exchange fee.
My question is...
Give it to a friend or relative. I had one of these as well that I couldn't use. My brother used the week and gave me enough to cover the booking fee and the guest cert. It cost you no more than that so why not see if a family member or friend can use it for what it cost you to book it? Are you trying to make something extra or just keep it from going to waste?

Been a member but I rarely delve into my DRI stuff. I called DRI today (their number is on the certificate to call to reserve) and I they told me that I can add a guest and that I don't have to be present at the resort. Even my salesman who gave me the certificate said I could "rent" it. I think the reason is because the certificate is a DRI certificate, not a II certificate.
Sorry if I...

Seems like there is a pattern of these lies that DRI reps tell to close the deal. Perhaps it is time to start putting pressure on DRI. In California, the sales centers are regulated by the California Board of Real Estate. Other states must have similiar oversight. If we started complaining to the Real Estate boards, they might have an incentive to stick to the truth....or maybe I am just ...

yes, true, but enough pressure from regulatory bodies would play a big part in stopping or help minimizing this bullshit from spilling out of salespeoples' mouths.

I too have gone to several presentations where 'renting' was brought up as a viable option for owners.
In Europe...
Well, I was able to find a week at Riviera Spa Resort in Capistrano Beach that will fit our schedule...so I am good now. I am a little ticked off at the salesman though. However, what do you expect from a TS salesmen?
