I agree with this. If we are going to sign one type A free agent we should sign multiples. If we sign Lackey, we should also get Wagner. Because of diminishing returns on draft picks, our financial status, and our protected first round pick we can afford to go after a few of them.

In my opinion the Orioles already have their closer. Chris ray should be the closer. He only lost his role as a result of injury not because he was ineffective. He should be given the opportunity to win back the closer role. Maybe in spring training Dave Trembley will give him the chance but I wouldn't bet on that. IMO, only to a point. Tillman goes out there a half a dozen times and pitches through 7 with a lead only to have it blown by some mediocre misfit, it's gonna wear on him. Lose enough and it will have an adverse effect on the whole team as well. Him saying that wins don't matter to a young pitcher is bull cookies.
